I want a 1970's exhaust for the z1
28 Aug 2007 22:30
well my neibhor just cam ripping down the street on his "New" 1978 kz 1000, and i love the header he has on there. It dosent have any markings, but it has a real deep throaty sound. He thinks it might be an old kerker or jardine. Does any body here have an old 1970's pipe that would fit an 1974 z1 900?

There's a sweet Basani on Ebay right now. Maybe check it out. The guy had it ceramic coated and the metal emblem looks to be in great condition.

Dude .. find a left side exiting Denco! You would be the coolest! I been searching for one of those forever!
1975 Z1 900, 1075 wiesco kit, web cams, smooth bores, dyna ignition, denco pipe, lester mags, wicked bad rotors, custom gauge face plates .. not much stock left.

VHR pipes are cheap pipes, like Macs.
I would look for something else old,
and in good shape.

As a Kerker fan. You know what my opinion is. There are a couple on ebay right now that would work for you, you may need to sandblast and paint them though, or ceramic coat if you have the coin. Just do a search on ebay. So in my opinion for the 70's look and sound ,Kerker or yea Denco if you can find one of those(kinda rare)

If you want to keep your center stand,
the left exit pipes look better.Without
the stand, the right sides look good, and
you have to clean less chain goop off them.

I have one Kerker I might be willing to part with if you can't find another one( I have three right now )
This one was sand blasted and painted flat black, typical bumps and bruises on the bottom of the pipes, it still has the chrome can/ muffler on it, with NO BAFFLE.
She's no show girl, but will get the job done.
Feel free to contact me if interested.

1974 900 Z1 modified to look like a LTD , some engine mods. But I still have all the original parts.
1977 1000 project bike
1972 H1 project bike
If pro is opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress?

I just jumped over to EBay .
That Bassani for sale is junk ,
NOT Bassani ,just that one .
Denco 4 stroke pipes NEVER worked on the street.
Buy a kerker meg system and then play with the baffels untill it sounds like you want .
Start with a med.
Full comp is WAY loud ,plus on a stock engine it sounds lame .
Then tune the bike to it .
