need help with value of z1 900 was created by sully73
hey guys, friend turned me onto your site, so i figured you would be the guys to help me out. a buddy of mine just gave me a z1 kz900 motor and frame. the engine numbers are z1e-23...- the frame numbers are z1f-23... so im thinking its actually a 74 due to the manufacters date of sept, of 73. the engine turns over (not locked) butit is a bare engine. no carbs, stator, and such. it also has one of the fins is chipped on the right side of the upper motor. the question i have is, what year is the bike, and what would the value be to sell it. a friend of mine shot me a numvber , but i have a hard time believing that this motor is worth that much as it sits. Ill try to get a pic or two of it up on the board, but if you guys could shoot me a couple ideas of what you think, and how i would go about selling it...ebay?

thanks for your help guys.

Hi Sully,

$150.00 to $250.00 Unless I really needed one of your parts. If you wish to maximize your return disassemble it into it's smallest pieces and set em up on E-Bay.

Looks like a '74 Z1A. If you want to sell the frame, let me know how much, or if you list it on ebay, let us know the auction #.

yup the website says its a 74 based off the serial number. i would like to sell the frame and the bike seperatly, so maybe ill do as suggested and take it apart and sell the individual parts. the frame is up for sale also, but i dont have any paper work for it. the guy that gave it to me got it from a fellow worker and he cant seem to find the guy now. he thinks he took a job in colo, but im not goin to go through all the hassel to find the guy, so if youd like the frame, youll have to get a diff title through one of the titling agencies i guess.doesnt seem to bother the cb750 guys much so i guess its not that big of a deal. whats it worth, shoot me an offer, and shipping will be the exact amount it costs me. thanks for the help guys.

The frames go for around $100. The motor you might get around $200 for.

It would help if you put your location in your signature. This might save you the hassle of having inquiries from potential buyers half way around the world.

I would think a 74 frame and engine would fetch more than that. Hard to find an old 900 that you can rebuild easy.

Oops I should have said up here in the northwest the frame is worth around $100. There is a guy out of Tacoma WA (Seattle area) that has frames on ebay almost weekly and he gets around $100 a pop.
