Trying to decide how I want to do my exhaust on my '82 GPZ project. thinking about going with the newer style "stubby" exhaust or finding a nice slipon and making it into a high pipe...

Here's an option that will work for you. I put a stainless steel exhaust off a 2002 ZR7-S on my 77 650 C-1. I got the idea from another member here Paling1 that did the same swap on his bike. If you like quiet like I do run the stock can. He put an aftermarket can on his. The only down side to his install is you have to play some tricks to make the oil cooler clear and you do lose the rear footpegs. Here is a pic of my system installed.

I guess I should've posted what the bike looks like now...that setup wouldn't look right:

Here is the 2 into 1 highpipe i just built for my 750 twin. I used a VW 1 5/8" merged header and cut it up to get all the bends I needed to weld this header up. The muffler is a Harley Sportster with the baffle cut out and turned around backwards. Flows great and sounds awesome. I'm pretty happy with it. I just built the heatshield for it tonight but don't have any pics of it.

I'm actually considering doing this to the GPZ:

I really liked how M4 did the high mounted exhaust for my F4i. I have access to a machine shop, so it's kinda limitless to what I can do...

Mark, that is more the look I was going to go with on my KZ. The idea of just having the exhaust go out in the factory position after doing all of the is modification just doesn't seem right. It needs a more modern look to it...

Thanks Larry, it's going on 3 years since I started it on and off again because of other reasons, but this is hopefully the final push to get it done. Looking at the end of September for a completion date...fingers crossed.
