You could remove the coils completely and swap them if the problem moves it's the coil if the same two are dead it's something else.

Switched them around, fired up. Bad coil.

I went to Z1 and looked at the coils, but none of them look like the stock ones...how do I decipher which one is for my bike...?

BTW, thanks guys for the help.

Dyna 3 ohm coils bolt right in using same mounting holes. While at it, would get the Dyna solid core plug wires (come with caps already built in). When your points wear out, consider upgrade to Dyna S electronic ignition (spot on performance with ultra low maintenance.)

coils

When ordering from Z1E, I mostly just let them use their own discretion regarding best shipping method, and have always promptly received the merchandise, and well-packaged.

Am using Dyna ignitions, coils and plug wires on Z1 and KZ900. And am very well-satisfied. :)

Thanks Patton for the reply.

This is what I was looking into:

I was just confused as to the correct coils, because the stock ones on there right now are these big black ugly round boxes! :woohoo:

You should save up and get the Dyna coils and electronic ignition. That will cure your problems and you won't have to adjust timing again. You might also think about doing the coil mod while your at it. Sounds like your about ready to ride that monster. Make sure the first time you get on it you have a lot of straight road ahead of you and lots of room to slow down. :woohoo:
