I remember stef brought-up that idea a few years ago. Got me pretty interested, since it would theoretically make much larger displacement possible with less heat-problems. One thing, though: you still need sleeves to get the bottom part of the liner down below the bottom of the cylinder block and the proper shape at the top. Aluminum liners can be made and bought, but I think you'd still be pretty limited by the cylinder-block machinability and the minimum sleeve-thickness problem.

hey while we are on the idea, we could offset the bores a bit and really max it out:whistle:
