Think it would really be neccesary for him to buy a set of mics and snap gauges? (that's what I was always told they were called).
I mean, if he already knows it has bad compression and he needs to over bore, he could just have them bored and then stick the kit in, correct? Assuming his machinist knows what he's doing anyway.
Of course, if you're going to build engines on a regular basis, you'll need all kinds of tools anyway, so...
That's just my two cents. Myself, if I have to go through the trouble of taking my ride apart and putting it back together, it's gonna get bored, so I'm not going to bother measuring it.

I got two cents as well ;)

It all costs money! Just how much?

I've punched out two of my rides so far but I wanted to keep the look outside, kinda' sleeper... only in a bike. I went with Wiseco on both bikes and I'm pretty happy but I've got nothing to compare it to + or -.

Depending on your resources, hey iron -workers have lot's of connections when it comes to metal!- new is great and reliable, 'refurbishing' extends the life of your product but its still 30 years old! :woohoo:

If you can afford it HAVE FUN this is the best sport in the world! $0.02
