yep...a whole big forum of it at ADVrider.com (I think, google may help)...here is the link...Anybody know anywhere else to find stories like this online? I've pretty much scoured this site as well as a couple others. If anyone has anything from their own trips or anything they've stumbled across online please share! I cant get enough of this stuff.

Check out my experience doing a 4,500 mile trip on my KZ650 in 9 days. Was the ride of a lifetime! Search for:
"Texas to California Trip a Big Success".

great ride.
Our bikes look the same! I will be riding my 79 KZ650SR from here in San Francisco to Toledo, OH. There I will meet two friends and ride/camp all round the five great lakes back into Western PA.

About 3500 miles in all, one way. After that I'll just leave the bike in a barn and fly home. Seriously, my dad has a barn in Western, PA.
But, I surely wont be looking for mix-n-match condensers though. I have an electronic ignition.

Hey, thanks for the comments, glad if someone else can enjoy that trip! Sadly, I haven't managed to do anything like it since, and not sure when I'll be able to. Hopefully some time. You really have to seize opportunities for these kinds of things... so you almost feel like you're going out on a limb. But I've never regretted doing so.
BTW that SF -> around Great Lakes trip looks great. But how can you miss the east coast of Lake Michigan! I'd call it Michigan's "forgotten coast", or something like that. White sand, blue water, few people...
(And someone will discover that KZ in the barn 50 years later...)
