Well-ventilated summer riding gloves;
Friction style "cruise control;"
Small cooler on passenger seat to lean back against;
Forward "cruise pegs;"
New soft handlebar grips (possibly foam style);
Chapstick;
Ibuprofen. :lol:
And:
New spark plug or three (fits in underseat tray);
Short length of rubber hose to snug fit spark plug allowing easy removal from hot engine without burning fingers;
Pen-style tire air pressure gauge (fits in underseat tray);
Soft nylon "tow" rope.
Still pondering.
Good Luck!

I just mapquested that trip, good luck to you. Mabye some Preparation H would be a good thing to stick in the tool tray as well, you might need it!
i'm not that old yet ,42 ,but i've beaten my body playing outdoor hoops couple thousand hours back in the day,and construction 15 years,and some great crashes and accidents on foot,my point is......i ride a couple of hours and i'm good ....the day is done......you guys that talk of riding longer than the horizon make me feel old....three hours and my buns cant find a good position on the saddle and every few minutes i wanna shift around,then i'm glad home is on the radar..... if it was me ...and it aint....maybe do a 300 mile run first and see if it is "fun"...if i'm cold...tired...sore...it's no fun......if i was 25 maybe...i'd do it just to see if i could....guys do it all the time...the guys that ride way far to come to the motogp here each summer...walk like chimps for two days after they arrive... after being wrapped around the bike for three days...just....thoughts...best wishes though to you and it sure sounds fun...peace

One of those gel seat cushions. Even an E-Bay one.
A chain oiler. Just helped a friend put a loobman on an old single stick Honda 750. He's already put 3000 miles on it without having to adjust the chain. :blink: I don't know that I'd want one on a bike I just rode around town, 'cause it DOES leave "harley piddles". But for a long distance ride, the $35 or so (shipped from Ye Olde England!) would be well worth it, considering the price of chains.

A 300 mile trip is a good measure for a trip in one day. If you are not used to that kind of distance you will be reminded by new pains the morning after. Wind plays hell on the arms and neck. Day 1 is easy its day 3 and 4 that are the test. Not to mention rain. I lived in San Diego in the 80s and made several trips to Michigan on a KZ900. I did it once in 3 1/2 days. I never tried that stunt again. But when you are broke, young, and your only transportation is your bike you do what you gotta do....Russ
