"That's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever"

Well none of us will live here on earth forever, but as Keith Richards said in a recent documentary, "none of us want to get old, but it's better than the alternative"

That and my grandchildren. I'll ride to see them as much as I have time to do it.

Having lost both my parents now, mortality has become very much of a reality in the in the last 12 months, I find myself counting the years until I'm the age they lived too and wondering how many more summers I'll have where I'm able to continue with the activities I enjoy, more often than I'd like, and have seen enough contemporaries go already.

As your teenage idols are invariably older than you, you do start to see a lot of famous people, who influenced you, dying and it will no doubt get more frequent, if we are fortunate enough to hang in there for the full term.

On the music front, there are many getting up there in age, I don't think Malcolm Young from ACDC will be around much longer given the severity of his dementia, but many are now at the age where they could go any day. They should be able to make some good music on the other side with the talent they already have.

I actually remember watching that episode of the Young Ones when it was first on TV. Rik Mayall also from that video (playing Rick) died in June 2014.

Snap! I remember it too, so surreal - Motorhead playing in their living room. His Autobiography is well worth a read:

And today we hear David Bowie has followed after Lemmy. Not a massive fan, but he did some good stuff and was quite influential back in the day.
