I think all of those were built in Lincoln, we called them the "Commuter' model, may not have been the official name. We called the color sh#t brown, not Candy copper.  I didn't have much love for the 400s then, I just wanted to work on KZ1000s!  Now I think it would be cool to have a blue 1976 400, since that was the first bike to roll off the line in Lincoln in January 1975.(the month I started)

Original 75 Z1 on ebay - ebay.com/itm/385036371778

$10,900.00 for this bike right at the moment.  Still have a couple of days left until the auction ends.  Will be interesting to see what the final price is.  Seems to be a pretty straight bike.   It's a twin to the one I bought new back in the day.  It was a great bike.

That was what Bossie looked like when I bought her. I miss it.

My second favorite factory paint scheme for the Z1 series,  first is of course 73 Rootbeer and Orange.

I had one new in that colour scheme that I bought in July/75.  I also restored one that I bought in 2015, but I sold it last year.  Right now I have one in the candy red, but I also have an original set of candy blue sitting in a box under my work bench, should I ever decide to change colours.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

$12,100 now. I bet there's a flurry of activity in 10 hours time when the auction ends. I'll never understand why experienced bidders constantly bid items up hours or days before an auction ends. Perhaps MM has their own bidders making sure no real bargains happen.

I'd say buyer beware when you are buying from Mach IV motors.

I second Wheelhop's advice.  Mach IV tried to screw me over a few years ago when I purchased a supposedly NOS Z1B master cylinder cap.  I got a piece of plastic crap that I sent back and then he tried to claim that wasn't what he sent me...in other words that I had switched up on him.  I had to go to Ebay to get my money refunded.

It went for $13,100. Tough to say without actually seeing it in person, but seems reasonable if it truly is a sub 9,000 mile bike.

I'd say buyer beware when you are buying from Mach IV motors.

They started out small, then grew too big! They got greedy buying everything and anything?
I dealt with them twice. In 2010 they bought 1 76 KZ900 bike, a Z1A roller with matching case but bored for big liners and 2 early Z1 short blocks.
That Chuck is  Big Dude! His wife Tara is a !!  He picked the 2 short blocks up after I said wait,  I'll help you! He laughed! swooped em up and had in trailer in no time! Was a good score for me!
Now I think they don't touch anything? And just let other people handle it all? I don't know?
All I know is, it was $5,000 cash in my hand, when I was broke after a divorce and stuck with my city house I turned into a Kaw warehouse!
These pics are the pick up! 2010 or 11.
A picture of the old house dining room! It had a patio with a ramp out to the garage!
I had shit all over the place!
You guys like pictures!!  Too bad I did not have the 80's and 90's on digital!
Thanks for the memory lane looking at them!
Now? Where was I? Sorry for the tangent!

z1kzonly - Am I mistaken, I'm sure you said "they" got greedy buying up everything - that sure is an impressive houseful of stock (nearly as much as wheelhop  Oink Jnr  )
