There is a "fully restored" KZ650 on FB Marketplace for $4000, lowered from $6500. I guess that means it wasn't worth $6500, OR the right person didn't see it.

I think for collectors - there is plenty of original ones in great condition. Maybe not correct bike to "restore"

There's one data point for you:

1973 Z1 900 in neglected condition with a speculative asking price of $5,500 draws same-day multiple buyer interest.

I don't think this forum is the best place to ask, really. These are the guys working on repairing or restoring these bikes for their own use or enjoyment rather than resale. These canny old birds aren't going to throw down Silicon Valley money for bikes they know how to fix. eBay would seem like a far more valid indicator of the buyer market.

I would rephrase the question. Which models are more desirable? I happen to have a 1980 KZ750 H1. To me as Gen X, this is a generic period bike of little intrinsic value so although the value would seem to be rising due to the Boomers of the period aging and making (excuse the uncouthness) final purchases, at some point that Bell curve is going to tip back over as the prospective market shrinks to a final flatline, much as one would expect for the value of a Honda CVCC.

I can provide at least a subjective answer to one model: I would prefer a KZ over an LTD because to my aesthetic sense the tarting up of a functional platform with less-performant parts makes it less desirable and even ridiculous.

Thanks, brand new person, for going immediately to a dickish attitude. That will certainly get lots of people to want to help you.

There is no list because a) most people apparently don't see the need for one and b) because there is not enough data readily available to create such a list. Sources like NADA and KBB work for newer vehicles because there are lots of e.g. Fords available. They can track dealer sales, etc. and have a nice big database to show that a red F150 with option package [whatever] and 30,000 miles is worth $X in a particular location. We do not have anything approaching even 1% of that level of data. These are older bikes, there aren't a lot of them left, and a lot of transactions are person-to-person rather than through a business. This is why people suggested you look at completed auctions/sales: combined, that is the biggest publicly-available data set you are likely to find.

OK. So below are two examples of Kawasaki KZ650 motorcycles. The first has low mileage on it. The second bike (mine) has more than 62,000 miles on it. How would one price the bikes? Does mileage have anything to do with the bike's condition? No offense intended, but there are not very many KZ bikes that are in original condition. Some are much worse than others, some have been hacked by idiots, some run great and some barely run and have not been maintained. So how many categories would be needed to differentiate between the various bikes? Ed

With the proper "artistic vision" and mechanical skills, your bike could look like the one in the first picture! (scary isn't it)

All kidding aside, your bike is what all 62,000 mile bikes wish they were.

This one is for sale near me. Not a Mk2 but similar. I have seen the bike and can attest that it is all original and in very good condition. I met the first owner at a bbq a couple of years ago. He sold it the following summer and now the current owner wants to sell it.
