Also regarding Howardhb, it sounds like you has a real cool dad growing up :) the Suzuki ac 50 is a great place to start, very clever engine design on those with the fully enclosed carb, very similar to my old fs1 Yamaha, real simple to work on and service and lots of fun to ride :)

Ja, he sure did teach me a lot!
Spent a lot of our time in the workshop on many projects,
including an AJS 500 rebuild.

Ajs made some good bikes for their time a bit like Norton, my favorite ajs is definitely the 7R :)

Funny you mentioned the dodge. Notice the bike has no rear turn signals.. What you can't see is the front brake light switch is disconnected. Need I say more.

Hee hee, where I live in Cornwall the police are very cool about bikes, you have to be pulling a big wheelie or riding at a crazy speed to get in trouble, I've heard about past times when they would stop a large group of bikes then check tires and the size of license plates and I've heard about police being funny about loud bikes, but in the uk if the bIke is registered before 1981 there is no set noise limit, keep in mind this is Cornwall though and in other parts of the country you'll find that the police can be a lot less relaxed about bikes , check out this toe cutter replica I saw a couple of years ago, the exhaust is just hollow pipe , the license plate is the wrong size, absence of turn signals is legal so that's fine but still never pulled over!

My 1st bike was a Flathead with Ape hangers!
A Sears & Roebuck 4hp Tecumseh "Duck Wren" scrub pedal back brake!
Christmas day 1970 or 71. My Dad was still alive. He let me take it out the front door and up and down the street. Was a little snow, but streets were clear. Lost my Dad in 1972.
Then the real bike was a Trials 1972 Suzuki TS90cc. I took my MC license road test on it in 1975. Was street legal of course.

Wow those pics are priceless, as in you can't put a price on them! I'm real sorry to learn of your dad passing :( I'm really glad you stuck with bikes :) and I must say everyone just looks so cool in the second pic! What is it about vintage photos that makes everyone seem cool?! :)
