Confused about my vin

My Vin is KZ650B-53 something something something, my frame and pink both match, minus the hyphen.
I thought it was an LTD because it's a 1980, 18" rear wheel with a single front disc since everything I had been able to find about my bike said it was an LTD based on aesthetics. But looking at KZ650, it's saying my frame number makes it either a B3 or C4, not sure which since those are supposed to start with KZ650BE.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

If your bike's VIN begins with KZ650B- your bike is a KZ650-B model. The C model VINs began with KZ650C-; the LTD model VIN began with KZ650E-; the SR model VINs began with KZ650D-; etc.
To see exactly what year your bike is take a look at the table at models.kz650.info/index.htm

I'm at work and this is the best picture I have on my phone right now.
My steering tube has KZ650B-53347 stamped on it. My engine KZ650BE11448. My pink says my bike is a 1980.

What country are you in? Those numbers don't match the sources. Both of them are missing a digit.
Good photos of the vin & engine number will be needed to figure out what it is & also photos of the bike.
A possibility is that someone has tampered with the numbers. I've seen photos of several hand stamped vins & maybe one engine number that was changed.

Well that's concerning. I'll post pictures when I get home. I'm in the U.S.

650ed wrote: It's definitely a KZ650-B model. Based on the info at the bottom of the page at www.jarlef.no/Kawasaki/Series/Z/650/z650b.htm I'd say it is a 1980 KZ650-B4. Notice that according to that link the VIN of the first 1980 KZ650-B4 was KZ650B523524. I see your bike still has the white label on above the stamped VIN. That label should have the bike's build date on it. Your bike is one of the last KZ650-B models built and could be the last KZ650-B built that is still in one piece. Very cool. Ed
thankyou so much! I haven't actually seen anything on a B4 existing, somehow I never stumbled onto that info on jarlof.no.

RonKZ650 wrote: 533520 was the last serial number produced for the 1979 KZ650B3. That is what your bike is. There wasn't a B4, at least in the USA, and your bike is a USA model going by the engine emissions ports on top of the engine.
There seems to be confusion about whether or not there actually were B4 models and if so, were they sold in the US. In fact, none of the US parts diagrams that I have seen show a KZ650-B4.
I suspect the info you provided is accurate, but that last 1979 VIN number conflicts with the info at the bottom of www.jarlef.no/Kawasaki/Series/Z/650/z650b.htm . What was the source for your information? Thanks, Ed
