Back in the first hslf of the 70s I had a Kawasaki SS 90 two stroke. I remember the 2 stroke oil went in a tank under the seat and there was a screw under an engine cover that adjusted the gas oil mix ftom very smokey to not so smokey.

Electrics were 6 volts and i spent a while looking for the points before i found that the ignition was magneto.

Fun little bike. I sold it 6 months later for more than I paid.

Yes, Thanks for the comments. I will have to search out a 2 stroke vintage forum and join! There is a forum for everything!I grew up with 2 strokes and mini bikes. I had a 72 TS 90 Suzuki trails, that I actually drove at age 16 1/2 when I got my MC license.
Check this Gem out! Motorcycle Gang From "Riverside" our little neighborhood. We got me with the helmet on a TS 90cc Suzuki, a 50cc Suzuki, a 90cc Harley aermacchi and a bigger Harley aermacchi 175cc
This was 1975! As you can tell by the MOD Bell Bottom slacks!!

I don't know if anyone ID'd it yet, but I assume it's a D1 or something related. I think the seat should be two-tone white/black. There is a guy on ebay that made a pattern for the seat cover from my buddy's bike, so if he's still there, he can probably make a cover cheap, like $20... if you are thinking of an original resto.

My buddy says the front fender is stainless... not chrome.

Hi, Thanks. Yes the front fender is Stainless. So where the 69-71 H1 500cc's. They had stainless fenders. I had some parts in 1999-2000 from an H1, I polished both front and rear fenders Took hours!! I shipped them to Nova Scotia, Canada. Plus the whole front brake set up.
But I will think this one out?? Keep it original and just clean it. Or re-do it.

The D1 is similar, but I'm about positive it is a 85cc J1T or J1TL. See page 13 at www.kzrider.com/modules/ServiceManuals/M...nition_1963-1978.pdf Notice the all black seat, wide white walls tires, etc. Ed

Thanks Ed. My buddy did say the cylinder looked slightly smaller on the bike in question. I'm not sure he was aware of the J1 bikes.

Hello Ed, Yes this is it! Now for the Bit I did not say. There is no Registration stub. The Old timer is deceased who was original ownwer. His grandson sold it to me. I was buying it either way. But the frame tag is: J1TL 00417 Then this is on left side crankcase LFE 01062.
This engine # does not seem to coordinate with VIN? And the base of cylinder has 81 CC
It is still in back of truck, cant see too much.
But thanks for a little bit more info. This narrows it down The L J1TL would be later year.

Don't worry about the engine number and frame VIN not matching; it would be extremely unusual if the did match. Take a look at www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Kawasaki_J1 . Notice the engine serial numbers for the J1; J1D; and J1L began with engine LFE-0001. Your bike's engine has a pretty high serial number and a low frame VIN. I would not be a bit surprised if Kawasaki installed some of the last LFE numbered engines in the early J1TL frames since clearly they did not hesitate to mix engines between other models. Ed

Hi Kid K, I decided to just flip it locally. I washed it, made a phone call to Joe Heb's Jr. The Hebeler's have owned a Kawasaki Dealer in Pendelton, NY since 1968. He bought it sight unseen over the phone. And I made $900 profit. I paid $100, sold it for $1000. Plus I kept the cool period correct helmet.
I forgot all about this little bike already.
