I gave away two sets of them in roughly the same condition a couple of years ago.  Interesting story on oinkey...I recently bought an ignition #753.  It was posted at $14.99 and sat for most of the time with no bid.  I needed one so I bid $15 with a high of $25.  A day later someone bid $26 so I upped my high bid to $51.  I got it for $51 because SOMEONE bid $50.94 so as to push my bid to the limit.  It makes me wonder how honest the sellers are.  Do they know what the high auto bid is?  Seems like it to me.
I have a couple of Z1B's restored, an '80 KZ1000LTD restored, a 1981 KZ550 restored and a 2008 KLR 650 for off road fun. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Do they know what the high auto bid is?

Only ebay knows what you bid until someone bids more.

I have been to Oink's house to pick up parts, he seems honest to me.

Sometimes I'll bid in small increments like that to see how much further I might need to go. I might also bid some round number of dollars and some change, e.g. $50.65, in order to stay just ahead of people who bid an even fifty bucks.

That might be what happened in your example: someone knew the high bid was over $50 but didn't know how much over. Even after the crude recon, the high bid could have been $51 or it could have been $100 and the person gave up.

I like to stick to the 'buy it now' and 'make an offer' items for that reason, but I'll bid if it's something I can't find anywhere else. It's silly but mostly harmless.

I don't bid at all until literally the last seconds. That way, I can monitor the bids as they get close to the end. I'll have my maximum in the bid box and place the bid just before the auction ends.

There was only a single bid after mine...for $50.94.  I'm not pissed.  I still think I got it for a good price.  Just wondering why the last bid was suspiciously close to my high bid.
