That is not a 35 grand Rickman. Somebody is dreaming bigtime!!!!

Stock motor with stock carbs!!!!! Look at that cheapo rear tire. Looks like it belongs on an Enduro bike!!!!!

Rickman 4 into 2 pipe. NO, its a rare Murray X pipe.

Now , if it had the rare dual disc front end. A built motor with a set of vintage 31mm CR Keihins, a old style hand bent Yoshimura pipe and a decent set of tires on it you might get some decent money for it.

If it breaks the 20 grand mark I will be shocked...................

How do you adjust the chain?

Each Rickman chassis kit came with a series of adjuster plates that moved the swing arm, rear wheel, and chain a certain distance. They are located at the swing arm pivot. Loose chain you took out the adjuster plates in there and went to the next higher set of plates. Unless you installed a mismatched set of adjusters, this system always kept the chain and rear wheel in perfect alignment!!!! Lose that set of plates and you are screwed if you want to adjust the chain!!!!!!

I watched a video the other night advertising the green/yellow Z1A in the background, ( he read through an $8000 work order that was spent to prepare it for the sale) IMHO they were dreaming on the price of that piece also. But they sure are some nice motorcycles!

IMO Kaplan Cycles (the seller of the Rickman) is a shady organization.

A couple months ago they were selling a Yamaha YCS1 which they described as having "original paint and chrome"; it clearly did not. A side cover sticker and the emblem on the other side cover were missing, the chrome trim rings near the tops of the forks had been PAINTED OVER, and the paint wasn't even the correct shade. I sent them a lengthy email describing the issues and they did nothing. Whoever bought the bike is going to be disappointed. :S :(

Here is what the front end is supposed to look like. The rings that were painted over on the Kaplan bike are just below the headlight ears; they're pretty obvious. (Not my bike - wish mine looked that good!)

The bid was $15,300 but didn't reach reserve. The ad said the engine was a '73 but I don't believe it was. Looks like a late '74 or a '75.
I have a couple of Z1B's restored, an '80 KZ1000LTD restored, a 1981 KZ550 restored and a 2008 KLR 650 for off road fun. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I saw Kaplan advertise a 1976 Kz900 as all original, yet it was loaded with incorrect items. I didn't think much about it but if he is trying to capitalize on "all original" when they are not then maybe something should be done. Or is it Buyer beware?

Kaplan is very knowledgeable and knows what he has, he accentuates the positive and skips the negative.
