This jerk always asks too much. Looking for a sucker to buy a used $20 part for $250. EBay is getting more like CL every day.

Just WOW! This guy needs to change the bong water a lot worse than the guy selling the low mile 81 Kz1000 for $8900.00. Some of these idiots, see big dollar signs on stuff they PRESUME to be NLA.  I can almost justify the price on the bike in my mind, but no way on an old worn out and brittle engine part.

Ebay could probably be persuaded to remove the ad, if the fact that it was still available from the OEM market for 15 bucks was brought to their attention..  (just thinking out loud here) :-)

Yeah, the market for these old Japanese bikes around Kansas City is pretty soft but not that soft. Maybe the guy just wants to get rid of it.

Really cheap considering the KZ1100 models started with model year 1981 and he says his is a 1980! Maybe his is a 1981 that was built in the latter part of 1980? Ed

Ad lists some of the work done in preparation for the sale. It says he sold 100 bikes in preparation for this sale? WTF? lol

He specifically lists flushing the brake systems with DOT-4 fluid. I may be mistaken here, but doesn't DOT-4 fluid attack older brake systems internally, and deteriorate the rubber brake components? (hoses, seals, MC cups, etc) Google search seems to say it's ok, but why not just use the DOT-3 like is supposed to be in there, since it says you can't replace dot 4 with dot 3?

I've never had any problems replacing DOT 3 with DOT 4 or even mixing them when DOT 3 is specified on the master cylinder. I've never read or had any issues where DOT 4 attacks older brake systems internally or deteriorates the rubber brake components. Of course, DOT 5 is a different animal entirely. Ed

I just don't see the need for a higher boiling point brake fluid period, UNLESS there is a need for it. You must really overheat those brakes there< Ed! I don't keep / use anything other than DOT-3 fluid, on hand, because other types are not recommended for ANYTHING I own, or even may encounter. When you have oddball stuff on hand, and you run out of the recommended fluid.. it's like... hmmm, why not use THIS? lol

I have run across brake systems where someone put the DOT - 5 in , probably thinking if DOT -3 is recommended, then the higher number brake fluid HAS to be an upgrade. It turned the entire system to MUSH, every rubber part needed to be replaced. Of course, I am sure the mortons at Jiffy Lube know everything about everything, just like the booger eaters working at the Zone, are actually ASE mechanics when they aren't selling chineese parts? right!

The reference to dot 4 fluid is not a selling point for me, and would make me leery of what else he "improved" while using the wrong fluids and selling off 100 bikes to make a sale.
