I love mine on my KZ1000. I pulled the baffle out and gonna leave it this way as I love the music it makes. I am glad that you are happy with your purchase.

Not for me, I put one on the MKII and rode it for 50 miles, if that, and kept grounding the front of the collector in left hand turns since that 4" sits right out in the area you need clearance on turns, so I took it off and it sat 15yrs til I had a 900LTD. I tried it on that motorcycle for 50 miles also and kept grounding the same point, but even worse, so off it came and last summer I sold the 100 mile pipe on craigslist. Brand new chrome, no blueing, just scrapes on the collector with 100 miles on it. Oh well, Kerker used to be like $199 back when I bought mine so I didn't lose anything.
Being better sounding than stock does nothing for me, losing ground clearance does nothing for me, the general quality of build and fit does nothing for me either.
Sorry, don't mean to rain on the Kerker parade, but there are some downsides to them on the 900s/1000s, on the KZ650 I can take them or leave them, at least they don't destroy the ground clearance in turns.
Just my pwn experience, anyone happy with them, that is all that matters.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

There is nothing more obnoxious sounding then having to drive next to a KZ900 or 1000 with a open pipe for any distance.

Back in the 70's, every "9" or "GRAND" on the southside of Chicago had "SMOOTHBORES" and and a "KERKER" and all without any type of baffle!!!

The dealership I worked in back then all the Brothers would come in and offer me a few blunts to write them a receipt for a baffle so they could go to court and beat a no muffler ticket!!!

Instead I made my owner a small fortune by selling all of them a replica Kerker baffle. I was selling 25 to 40 baffles a month back then!!

I'm not a fan of making big "look at me ,hear me"noise. Loud pipes do not save lives nor do they impress me by their looks. That said I have a MAC on my CSR650 bobber. They are kinda throaty but not flame throwing obnoxious. My bobber is fun to ride but I only use it for quick local jumps. I could sell it in a minute as I have standing offers ...maybe I will and maybe I won't it stands me nothing as it was cheap and fun to build. Now my two 77 KZ650's are mostly stock and their exhausts are stock. Love the looks of them and the sound. 2 each their own but I like flying under the radar (tree top level) better than pissing off the neighbors (been a pissed off neighbor myself), getting the attention of the local boys in blue or shocking a bluehair into my lane. AND if it is going to affect my ground clearance it is NOT a good thing!

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

You got my vote again. If the neighbors don't like it then we can discuss it. Then I will take the whole muffler off and we can discuss it again if they would like to.

Just sold an 11 second street-strip 72 Nova a few months back. It was loud with attitude(not glass pack loud), drove it around for two years and never got pulled over.

Haven't been pulled over on this old KZ either, just got to know how to act is all.

Oh and I don't do it for any attention as I am quiet the opposite. I do it because I LIKE IT!

I agree with 4thekz1000. I run my kerker open. I dont drive around hammering on it trying to be loud. But at the same time i like it loud. And i dont care what people say loud pipes CAN save lives. NOT ALWAYS THO!!!! Every sitution is diffrent.
