27 mm socket? kz900 front sprocket nut????

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationgot a new chain and sprockets for my 900...i know i don't have the right size socket anymore....gonna buy one....27mm right? 1/2 inch drive i do have and torque wrench...just need the right socket

That is the one you need. I got one in the top of my tool box that I used once.
If shipping wasn't so much I would just send it.

no...no...no...the front sprocket nut on a kz 900 is 1 1/4" by7 my tape...

NOT NOT NOT 27mm....which is btw 1.06299 inches

i just used my tape to measure...i remember my neighbor had a big socket box for heavy equipment and he had loaned me a 1" and something socket for my MKII ...but it was few years ago so posted this thread before buying a socket online...1 1/4 is 35mm ???

I just checked the nut on my spare KZ900 output shaft and it is indeed a 27mm, and so is the one on our 78 KZ650 engine.

That nut of yours looks nasty.

1 1/6" = 27mm
1 1/8" = 28.5mm
1 1/4" = 31.5mm

1mm = .040" roughly, good for mental calculations

1/16" = .0625"
1/8" = .125"
1/4" = .250"

1" = 25.4mm because Congress passed a law making it so

The later KZ's came with a 30mm head on the nut. Both are 20mm thread.

20mm is the shaft thread size = internal thread size of the nut.

The socket size to fit the nut is measured as distance between the flats, same as an open end wrench.

1¼" between the flats would be about 31.75 millimeters.

Depends, of course, on accuracy of the measurement between flats.
Measuring in millimeters (with a caliper) would be the better choice for determining metric socket size.

Important to use the correct snuggest fitting socket, due to the sometimes extreme force required to loosen the nut.

If the 1¼" inch socket fits without undue slop, it may work okay, but could try a 1 3/₁₆" socket -- which equates to 1.1875" or 30.1625mm -- on a 30mm nut.
