NO WAY!!!
NOT from a 750 OR 900 the speedo only goes to 80 mph. I would look at google images of SMALL cc bikes maybe like a 250 Honda Rebel!!!

HOGEATER(CHUCK)
NOT a Rebel or Virago. I know the Magnas have a cluster something like that but the 750 has a LOT more MPH than that.

Look at SMALL cc SCOOTERS like a RUCKUS

The Federal Government limited all speedometers to 85.

Correct! For a couple years all US speedos were limited to 85mph - big brother protecting us from ourselves. This proved to be a really stupid idea because anyone going faster than 85 had no idea how fast they were going. I had first hand experience with this - my friend on a KZ750 and I were riding very fast on an open highway; I was topped out at an indicated 120. He would edge past me then slow down a bit then edge past me etc. When we stopped he asked why I wouldn't keep up with him. When I told him I was topped out at 120 he about crapped himself. He had no idea he was going anywhere near that fast because his speedo was pegged at 85. I estimate he was hitting about 125 at his peak speed. Ed

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Maximum_Speed_Law

"On September 1, 1979, in a regulation that also regulated speedometer and odometer accuracy, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) required speedometers to have special emphasis on the number 55 and a maximum speed of 85 mph (137 km/h). However, on October 22, 1981, NHTSA proposed eliminating speedometer and odometer rules because they were "unlikely to yield significant safety benefits" and "[a] highlighted '55' on a speedometer scale adds little to the information provided to the driver by a roadside speed limit sign."[32][33][34]"

I know some of the older guys here can tell you how it was. Every car/motorcycle only read up to 85 mph, even with digital speedometers.

WOW!!! You're mighty quick to call facts BS before you even check them out. As I stated in the posting above "For a couple years all US speedos were limited to 85mph - big brother protecting us from ourselves." I stand by my statement, and I suggest you not call documented facts BS - it makes you appear immature.

Under good ole Jimmy Carter the Federal Government, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), mandated that speedometers would have 85 mph as their highest indicated speed; see NHTSA regulation: 49 CFR 571.127 "Standard No. 127 Speedometers and Odometers" (effective September 1, 1979). This was reversed effective March 25, 1982 – thanks to Ronald Reagan.

You asked to see the Gov't mandate on speedometers, well here you are - I've listed the pages for you so you don't need to read too much, but feel free to read the whole works:

For details of the mandate see bottom of page 908 S4.1.3 in the following link:
books.google.com/books?id=tqY8AAAAIAAJ&p...s%2085%20mph&f=false

For details of the mandate being revoked see page 225 of the following link:
ia700300.us.archive.org/14/items/federal...torvehi19843unit.pdf

No BS! Ed

I just love when someone (hogeater) tells me I'm full of BS and don't knhow what I'm talking about. I then go out and look at the STOCK speedo on my STOCK 1982 Honda CB900F and it only goes to 80 mph and my STOCK 1982 Kawasaki GPZ1100 speedo and it only goes to 80 mph and my STOCK 1982 Kawasaki GPz750 speedo and it only goes to 80 mph. Hogeater you really need to lighten up, if you don't know what you are talking about then don't say anything.
