so saying there is no replacement for displacement could mean also the amount of air and fuel going through the engine or what?

Yes it's me and him. A bit later he ran 9.0 on that bike, never quite made an 8 on it. He retired (again) in 2009 aged 73. The bike is in safe hands and the new owner is taking it to Bonneville next year. Dad got a best of 207mph out of it, nitrous assisted.

A 750 turbo can flow more air than a 1200 aspirated all other things being equal. With nitrous the 1200 comes close though. Both bikes made around 250hp.

A 1200 turbo can beat a 750 turbo of course, which is where your displacement saying comes in. A friend of mine has a ZX12R turbo making 618hp.

curious about the kz750 being way further oversquare than a kz1000. is that why the 1000 has more torque?

x2 Those things are dam impressive. I've ridden them. I could own one :)

The difference between the new bikes vs the old bikes is..... performance wise, the new bikes do everything the old bikes do but do it way better. Cosmetic appeal and comfort excluded of course ;)

There is a replacement for displacement. It's a well tuned engine. I can name several small bore Kawaski Z1 based drag bikes that will run equal times to not well tuned big block Z1 based bikes. It's all relative guys....you can't apply the same shoe to every foot...
