I agree! Mine's not exactly a "cafe racer" though.

Hey, someone has to be the troll...
naw, someone had to say it.
I cant recall the forum...think it was the honda forum I used during my nighthawk resto- they found a not running 1982 "Vetter" in near mint condition- got it by trading a working riding mower.....then...proceeded to chop it to hell.. you know..welded steel bar for the rear struts to replace the shocks, cut the seat in half, then bolted it to the rear fender, ruined the fairing taking it off, then complained it ran like hell (pod job) and why it tracked terribly (shaft drive lowered)
argh..I LOVE seeing bobbers and cafe's from basket case bikes. ITS uplifting to take a dead, unloved crate of crap and make something..but taking an otherwise excellent example of 60's, 70's, 80's technology and ruin it?
oh hell no, then we get to sit around and wonder why you so rarely see an original 50's BSA or harley

Could not agree more. Hack up a rusted out barn find or basket case all you want, but if you have a nice relatively stock example in good condition please leave it that way or sell/trade it to someone who appreciates it. Its tough to find a decent cb550-750 from that era these days and I'm afraid its getting harder and harder to find an unmolested KZ as well. And what is with people taking a decent KZ, bobbing it  and then trying to sell it for 3x as much...
Rant off...

your thread,
you get to talk about what you want,
but everyone gets to throw their two cents in.
doesn't matter if it ain't worth a nickle :woohoo: .
i think this is real close to the perfect cafe racer for me  .
i dont even care if they chopped up two original z1's and clubbed a baby seal to build it,all while standing on one original sand cast cb750 while pi$$in on another one.
see we all got different opinions,
it would be a very boring world if we all l.iked cool sh!t.
thats my .02  .

I pointed out the radical difference between a bobber/cafe well done and a hack job.
I HATE to viable restorable motorcycles chopped up for a whim, especially when it winds up looking like that one on the bottom.
I've owned a cafe a chopper, bobbers next on the bikebucket list. I'm just not chopping up my Vetter to get that bobber.

Who was offended? I simply commented on the hostility in general against cafe racers from the biased post.
Also, the hack job you've posted would be a "streetfighter" I think, rather than a "cafe racer".
A poor attempt at one, I would say. I have seen some very nice streetfighters.
