WooooooHoooooo, picked up an almost complete Z1R today. As you can see I'm pretty excited....I got it for a VERY good price. It is missing the tail section/tail light, and signals/switch gear. Tank has a few dents, but not bad.
Has a wicked set of Mikuni Flat Slides, Dyna iggy/coils, V&H header, on the cylinder head where the rubber cam seals go it has aluminum APE ones. I'm hoping it has some goodies INSIDE as well Oh has Rask rearsets, Fork Brace, steering damper etc. But nasty Drag Bars = ICKY lol.
One thing that had me confused was it has a 19" front wheel on it, odd as I've always thought they had 18" on the front as well...but it is a 1980 built 3rd month of 80 so maybe late ones had the 19 ?
I'll post up pic's once I get them on Photobucket Pics are of it as of an hour ago when i unloaded it...still has 15 years of dirt/grime on it lol.

Nice score! The KZ1000D3 returned to the 19" front wheels as standard.

Thanks
I have way too many projects on the go, so this one may be getting parted out. I'll know tomorrow if I'm keepin it, I sold 2 bikes today as well ( Honda Nighthawk 750S's ) so there is actually some room to keep it. But no time in the near future...Got my 750 project to finish and a 2000 ZX9R I need to put together too. Too many bikes not enough money or time lol.

Not sure which side of rack, but take a look and it is usually stamped on the carb body what size they are.

ah cool score.
is that the right seat pan?that has been recovered or a custom seat entirely?
be a shame to part out.
i thought rs stood for round slide.
the way you go though things i would love to see you take your hand to this bike.
there were only a little over 3000 80 model z1r's,
while there were over 17000 78 models built.according to zedder.

It's a stock pan but recovered like a Corbin kinda.
Hmmmm only 3000 in 1980 eh, maybe it does deserve to be redone. I'd imagine all the stock bits I'd need would be big $$$ if I could even find them. The stock exhaust must be worth a fortune, didnt the 1980 have 4-4 pipes instead of the 78/79 bikes 4-2 setup. Bet that wouldnt be fun to find.
But I'm not on a timeline that requires it to be done ASAP, I've got years to gather parts I guess.

RS stands for Radial Slide, they are a flat slide smooth bore carb. They only make 34's, 36's, 38's and 40's but I'm pretty sure they are 36's....maybe 34's.
