As tall as you are, you should be able to hang a knee down an touch on that KLR. :woohoo:wow, that looks like so much fun! I wish I could drag a knee lol.
I thought we would have some photochops by now. Where's Patton with a well timed photo of plummi er wireman in a leisure suit?

Those two guys are to motorcycling like the Harlem Globe Trotters are to the NBA.
Fluid, Fast and Casual.
I'm Impressed. I'm also glad I didn't have to capture any of those laps on a camera.
Do you think they were just playing for the camera? Sure they were. How bout those wheelies?!?! I've read that when riding for speed you don't have time to wheelie. If they'd a been really racing Gilli would have come round him while the camera mounted bike was standing up.
What do you think?

Right. Think of how large the cross section is of a bike standing on it's rear tire and the associated wind resistance. But those boys can do some serious riding! Ed

You said it all right here. I have two classics and one modern bike. One classic is a bone stock 1980 GS750 L it pulls really hard for a 750 of that vintage, and it's quite nimble. However the front brakes suck and you can feel the frame flexing and the front tire following grooves when you start to push.
My other classic is my 78 KZ1000 A2 with frame bracing per Sanctuary and modern suspension per 1995 GSXR 750. It's solid, no frame twist, no front wheel following grooves, and the braking is incredible thanks to the six piston Tokicos with twin 310 mm rotors. You feel like a superhero until you start dragging the header collector in right hand turns and the stator cover in left handers.
Finally, my modern bike is a 2004 ZX-10r. Going fast on this bike is effortless. It turns in before you can think of it, brakes well, it's 100 lbs lighter than a KZ, it makes 160 rwhp, and does 100mph before you shift out of first gear. Not to mention that if you can trust your tires, it has enough turning clearance to drag knees, elbows, hands, or your head if you are so inclined.
It seems to me that the camera man is riding a liter bike and the gillie man is on a 600. If you keep watching the video, you can see the camera man closing the gillie man real hard on the straights, and the revs on the gillie man bike are quite high. Also, the camera bike is pulling massive power wheelies on corner exits. That's typical of a modern liter bike, not a 600.
BTW racer54, talk to mark1122 about his trackday experiences from last year. His KZ was outclassed by 600's regularly even though he's running a 1200 cc motor.
650ed, you are absolutely right if you look at a 6 foot tall man standing on the pegs of a modern sportbike and riding a standup wheelie, you can bet he is at least 9' off the ground. That's a lot of wind resistance.
