Hello everyone!!! its been a little while, business has obviously slowed down with me do to the cold. We just got like 2 feet of snow here in Iowa. I was looking on Craigslist the other day and i found a 1976 KH400 2 stroke triple.. Its a street bike. Luckily i saved the number becasue craigslist went offline for a while i think and it Erased all the adds from a couple weeks ago. The guy says that it runs awesome and was his daily driver last year. Since then, it has been in a shed where he has been starting it frequently. He said he did all of the servicing on it whenever it needed it and it has a clean and clear title. What i wanted to know is if these bikes are worth anything on like ebay? the bike is complete and it being a 2 stroke, the only change that was made was Clubman handlebars. No rust and i think the gas tank is free of any dents. Should i go for it? He wants 500 right now but im going to do some negotiating. Let me know whats up, ill be checking this at school today during 5th period.

Thanks guys,
KT

$500 is an excellent deal for any bike in said condition.

Just buy it! - and yes, its worth more than that!

Those old 2 stroke can bring a pretty high dollar, depending on condition of course. They are fast in a straight line. My old 500 triple wouldn't turn for beans, mostly cause the front tire liked to be in the air. If you can get it for $500, buy it!!! You will not regret it for a second, unless when it spats you off over backwards.

I would jump on any of the Kawi two-stroke triples in any condition (almost) for that kind of money.

Enough people out there that love them that will pay you double or more.

ok, i called the guy and he says it sat all winter and may need some work to start it. he also said the baffles are removed from the exhaust. The bike is flat black but he says it looks good. it also needs a rear tire. Are any of these red flags for you guys? i will be doing a compression test and i will be bringing sand paper, gas, a battery, and starter fluid.

The KH400 is the most dependable bang for your buck triple bike you can get.
Handle well, ride amazing and for the size...pull like a train.
electronic ignition on the 76
S3400 had points in 74
no red flags for that price.

Sweet. I figured i would update the situation. I email him for some pictures, still waiting. Talked to him the other day and he says he still has it and it probably aint going anywhere. Since my grandpa passed away this year, we are currently moving in with my grandma to help around the house and keep the woodburning stove stoked up. (one of my favorite chores actually:D) my dad also has to take my grandma to work every morning so she has been putting my dad on the insurance for all the vehicles she has. So now we can legally drive his old Silverado he has sitting in the lot next to the house. It runs but it runs like crap. If im going to make it on this 4 hour journey to go and get the bike, i need a good truck. I plan on ordering the parts for it sometime this week. Plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, distributor cap, and rotor. Im also going to have to rebuild the carburetor but thats only if it still runs like crap after i do all this other stuff. SORRY, THIS IS A MOTORCYCLE FORUM, NOT A TRUCK FORUM:) anyways, when i get the truck to quit chugging and backfiring and spitting black smoke, then ill be on track. My mommy is even being so kind as to give me the majority of the cash i need to get this bike, my dad is taking care of the rest. This may end up being my daily rider instead of the KZ1000LTD depending on how awesome it is. I still want something that can buck me off with half the twist of the throttle:D So, as of right now, the bike runs and has no MAJOR mechanical issues as far as i know. He said the carbs could use a good blasting out with some cleaner and air and maybe the bike itself could use some cleaning up but other than that, it seems cool. Ill post a picture of it in a bit here.
