A man in Chicago just called me and offered me $6000, he is doing work with a Buisness called "Classic Bikes USA" or something like that....
i think i would let her go for 6k.
that is one hell of a profit margin.
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I know I'm new around here but I would check to make sure his bank isn't in Nigeria and that he's going to wire you the money. "Just ship the bike, you can trust me" is still around the internet (not saying anything you don't know allready). If it's a true deal offer You would be silly not to take it. Think of all the new finds you can look for with 6k. Could be a new hobby or the start of a little side business for you. Good luck sir.

If you sell that bike you will never ever forget when you see another...if you don't sell it the family will think you are not feeling the family thing enough.....tough situation , and it came outta a hobby and used junker score....that is too bad.......or good...or both
No one can say what "you need to do now" but you and your family.......
But......But........But... .let it be said that i was never in the sell it and make a quick big profit group....there are enough sell it now advisors there already it sounds....
I'm still in the dont do anything to it crowd ,....
Most everyone on this site would dig that bike...just about any KZ person on this planet would dig it.....6000.00 is not enough for a low numbers early Z-1 like you just found covered in dirt...condition aside...it is not a money thing...thats why homeboy is waving bills under your nose......tell him 9000....9000 is a put up or shut up thing....tell him the frame and cases are worth 7000.00 let him sleep on it on few nights like he is letting you now.....list it in japan....for 10,000......to the right buyer that is like 200.00 bucks...

Ive talked with the guy and he is legit... Actually i just got off the phone with GregZ a member of KZR, great guy, the man who gave me first offer of 4200 on this bike and he happened to know The guy with the highest offer of 6000, they buy and sell parts to eachother. Greg said he is most definetly legit.
Anyway, a money transfer goes way quicker then it takes to ship the bike. So the bike isnt going anywhere until the money clears.

I know what I would do!
That business has done alot of Z1's He has got alot of stuff sitting there already. He can redo that bike in 6 months. He can spend 3-4-5 thousand dollars. Quickly.
He will invest $10,000 then sell it for 14 or 15 grand.
Because he is a business man. Make a quick profit.
You can make a $5800 profit.
Like I said before, your labor of love might take multiple years. Do you have the capital to invest?
And the time? To make it correct and rebuilt.
Watch an episode of Pawn Stars, someone comes in with an item, thinking they will walk out with a $1000 bucks.
They get put down in their place, Rick Harrison tells em like it is. And they leave with $200 bucks.

Look at it this way, no one say's a restoration is a low dollar affair. But it dont need to be finished in a month, nor a year, hell if it takes you a decade so what.
It's not going to DEPRECIATE by sitting for a few years while you gather the funds/parts/time needed to do a proper resto. I'd do everything you can yourself, but let the pro's do the important things such as pain work etc.
It aint costing you anything but space at the moment....dont let the $$$$$ a collector is dangling in your face cloud your judgement.

The Z1.....Id keep it because it will only appreciate w/time. How many times will you come across something like this again. Take the money and pay your bills, seems responsible, but I would need so much therapy to deal with sellers remorse:(

i do think that the early yr and low numbers is a factor in really the seller being the one to name the price though.....
rare is it's own benchmark and replacing parts to make it shiny really does not factor in in my book...
rare is rare...
part of the bikes beauty is it's tarnish and funky seat.....it looks like the person who comes up with the final offer would imagine one in his minds eye....tarnished,neglected and ultra rare.....something he will be able to put "his " touches on....
the dirt is fun to wipe away...the tarnish is there to be dealt it adds to the chram of the buy, worked by hands by the one who brings this bike back....
I see no reason why it can not be both rare low numbers -first year, and, parts saved in a box ,era superbike bad ass modded ...
How cool would it be to have a bad as Z-1 superbike at the hamburger stand and under the ultra trick racer job, show your buddy a 1972 low numbers v.i.n to boot!!!!!
just have the stuff to reverse the superbike into a mint stocker saved up and hanging in the rafters....one weekend and da da da dooo...a mint roller comes out of the garage where a racer rolled in on friday....
the very best of both worlds......this is a bike that is a Top dog Z in any form it's owner can dream it.....good luck

This is low for a Z1, but I think your $6K offer is great. Your bike is a long way from this. Could you build yours to that condition for $8900? Would you have the money and time? If you really need the money then sell it, but I wouldn't hang on to it unless I had the money to do it right.
