Hmmm.. I may still jump at it, especially if it seemed like he would take $500.

I am not trying to do a restoration, really more a rat bike sorta thing I feel I'm heading towards. The carbs kind of concern me because I hate dealing with carbs, but heck, it could make a good project.

Hmmmmmm

If they are the stock 26mm carbs, they are pretty forgiving. Trust me. I know nothing about carbs and I've been able to work on them.

Those wheels look like they are the Henry Abe Seven Star wheels. If they are, they will have 'H A Industries' stamped on them. If they are 19" front and 18" rear, they are highly sought after on the Japanese market. My '75 has a set of these. Of course you would want to strip the green paint.

I agree that the eBay bike is a better bet but the distance is kind of a deal breaker. I can just drive 3 hours to pick up the heap-o-parts and, honestly (also stupidly) I am intrigued by the idea of putting a pile into a motorcycle (or something like it.)

trianglelaguna, thanks for the complement. I don't want to hijack this thread but here is a before pic when I brought it home last spring. Bought it locally off Craigslist. Cleaned it up, polished the engine covers, added new shocks and seat rail from Z1E and it's a sweet little ride.

Asked the guy (over the phone) how low he could go and he said $650, also he mentioned the broken headlight ears.

Still seriously considering it, does that make me an idiot? =)

I can't make the trip up to KY until next weekend so I am thinking about telling him on Saturday that he can have $500 cash if he wants it and see what happens.

Well, I am driving to TN tomorrow to pick up my $500 pile of parts. I just started teaching high school and I really need a hobby. This should keep me occupied for a long long time. I'll start a post in projects once I get everything laid out and clean.
