Is 2 up on a KLR feasible? I have been toying with the idea of getting one as a beater daily driver. It (and other bikes of it's ilk) are the only bikes that I feel comfortable on since I am so tall, and I like the idea of something with a huge tank, long range, and trail riding capabilities...it kind of fits a lot of things that are important to me, but I just don't know if it can handle prolonged 2 up riding on the highway...anybody know?

my own experience with bikes with narrow seats like the KLR/DRZ/XR and even the 250 ninja I used to have is that I'm good for about an hour then it's time to get off. That's just me though as I'm fairly big and have some lower back issues. I've seen people two up on them but as to the comfort level I don't know. I am actually wanting to get an XR650L honda to make into a motard type bike for riding around town and maybe doing some track days on.

I almost bought one but the guy sold it a couple days before I could come up with the cash. So I bought a Yamaha yzfr1 instead. It's not very good 2 up though.....

I own two KLRs. One 2009 and a 2008, black and blue. I got these before I got my two 1976 kz900s. I can tell you, I recommend the klrs to everyone. I drive mine daily and have used it for trips over 1000 miles. I have never had any troubles with them on the freeway or long distances. Its a great feeling going somewhere and seeing a little dirt road off to the side. You always wonder way they lead too. I would recommend to get the crash bars for the sides and the highway pegs are a definate plus. Its fairly cheap, somewhere around 350.00 for the whole set up. And besides what is wrong with one more bike in the stable.

I had a KLR years ago.Used it on my honeymoon from Scotland to Switzerland 2 up.8 hours in the saddle no problem.Just watch out for soft panniers catching fire on the tailpipe!
Im 6ft 3 and found it better to take the screen off and leave the fairing on.I tried a longer screen but that was much worse. In all an underated bike and much nicer than the xtz750supertenere I replaced it with.
