air filter kz900a5

so im getting the final touches done on my kz900a5, a frame paint turned into a two year project. anyways i had ordered an airfilter last year for it and was getting ready to install it. i ordered it for a 76 kz900a4 thinking they were the same but it doesnt fit. what am i missing here?

Take a look at the parts diagrams at Kawasaki.com. Looks to me like the air filter element, part number 11013-058, is supposed to work on the '76 A4 or '77 A5. Do you have all the other bits and pieces shown in the diagrams? Ed

im not sure whats going on here. i went and picked up a filter for a 1974 and it fit. the diagrams of the 74 airbox look just like mine.

Perhaps the original KZ900 airbox has been replaced with a Z1 airbox.

KZ900 airbox has separate airbox hoses, whereas Z1 airbox has the "hoses" already built in (see below).
