So I got the coolest package in the mailbox, it has "ROYAL MAIL" on it and a return address of old blighty.

Yay! My colortune has arrived! New toys. Take it out, check out the manual, look at the pieces, pull out a spark plug from the ol' 1100, and wait a minute --

this plug is too small --

Oh S, who ordered teh 12MM colortune instead of 14mm???

Yeah, that'd be me.

:( :pinch: D'OH

What colortune do they NOT make any adapters for? the 12mm.. What a treat, you can get a 12mm adapter for the 14mm plug; but not the other way around.

I guess I buy another one next month, and save this for some ATV or lawnmower or somesuch...

that's a cool idea; most of the ones I'm googling are a bit too long for use with a spark-plug-type device like the colortune.
This one might work, it is a 'spark plug adapter' www.amazon.com/Spark-Plug-Thread-Adapter-12mm/dp/B000J4K0AM

but at $10 with 9.95 shipping, that's half the price of the other colortune.. O_o

I hate it when they try to make money on the shipping. no way it cost $10 to mail.
if u do get a new color tune, u could ebay the other.

If your crafty you may be able to disect a 14mm spark plug and tap the center 12mm. In essence making that adapter you just posted.

I'd be hesitant of an adapter... I heard they pull the plug even further out of the chamber, causing the bike to not run as nice. My 14mm for my 80 750 4cylinder misses already with the colortune in and I'm thinking it's because the plug is shorter than the regular plug, thus not reaching as far into the chamber... I did email Gunsons/Morgan to see if they don't have any recommendations or remedies...

Nice move there... DOH!!!! :pinch:

Have you contacted Morgan about returning for the correct size? I'm sure this has happened to them before... Sure it will most likely cost you some additional re-stocking fee's and shipping but at least you'd have the correct tool for your KZ....

I'd be weary of the adapter concept and here's why....
Too long out of the spark plug hole/chamber and the chamber spark wouldn't be correct thus inaccurate readings....

Just some thoughts....
