What do you guys think about this deal? houston.craigslist.org/mcy/1935268120.html

I had an 82 CSR but never even got it on the road. The cruiser thing is not really my style, but my wife kinda likes it. It would help me complete some unfinished business if I actually had a running CSR.

Also, what are the opinions amongst CSR owners. My wife is more of a cruiser/laid back type rider vs. my go fast aggressive style. I think this may be the perfect bike for her. I may go by and see the bike tomorrow, so I can determine just how rough this thing runs.

I think that, that is a good price for that kind of bike. I have an 81 1000 CSR and it is a great bike. It cruises really well and can also run like a scalded cat when you get after it. The pullback angle on the handlebars is a weird angle, so only the outside part of my hand is in contact with the grip. Replacing the bars with something more comfortable should cure that. If you want to ride with your wife on the back, you may have a tough time finding a backrest. You can however use a modified backrest from another year KZ1000... I have one that I need to get to the welders to have extensions welded on.
If you can go through the carbs and take care of the cosmetics, you should have a nice bike.
My 2 cents worth. If you have any other questions, there are quite a few guys on this forum with CSR models. They will help, just post your question.
best of luck.

Thanks Grantl, I agree about the bars. I have never been a fan of those. If I get it, she will be riding it solo. She has been riding for 15 yrs, and can handle her father's 1964 Panhead, so I'm not worried that the bike might be too big for my little woman. Are there any gotcha's on the 998cc motors, or the 82 model bikes in general. I figure $600 is fair for a running bike with a title that needs body work and carb cleaning, but I will try and get it cheaper if possible. I can fix the tank an re-paint it. If I decided to flip this bike quickly, what would it be worth if it had good paint, and it ran properly? $2000, $1500?
