Buddy of mine is working on it for a friend. Its a green 76 I believe. Hopefully the picture loads. It's not in the best shape, has a horrid aftermarket seat and pipes...but I still have never seen or ridden one!

It was...but any 903cc bike is a dream bike...once you have seen one, you have been snakebitten.

Thanks McDroid, couldn't have said it better myself. I get a little tired of the z1 vs. kz900 attitude.

Hm-m-m-m.Well my 82 "J" bike is My dream bike so I guess I dont understand the "Z" versus KZ900 versus KZ1000 attitude.Fact is, there arent many of any of em left running around, and everytime someone steps up and saves ANY of the Kawi big fours from the boneyard,I applaude.SO color me green and paint ELR on my arze Mama-for Im to be Queen of the May.Hee-haw.bj

same here...i get it...you know the real rootbeer ones or the yellow striped on green..sweet....but other than to identify parts the numbers mean little to me..they are all a legend....i am even starting to blurr the mental lines between brands and seeing the beauty in most all bikes...when you go to a show like the quail gathering and the whole polo field is sweet bikes on a grass green background.....i came away still loving my Z's but also seeing how folks love their old brands.....

the difference between early kz and z-1 seems less than it was when i was younger....anyhow.....gpz anyone?

I'll have to post the pics I have later... They are too big right now.

And you guys are spot on. Upon further examination, the side panel does say kz. It's a darker green with lighter green pinstripe. Unfortunately, it has this horrid two up seat with a built in sissy bar (it looks like one of those rocking chairs kids use to play video games. The pipes were tossed and replaced with 4 into 2, but the two are just turnouts before the back wheel. I'd still like to make it my own though!

Those original pipes grab a pretty penny, don't they?

those green ones will grow on you...it is it's own true kawi run imo...at frist when i drove to santa cruz to buy it ,inside i was like darn it a 76,not a 73-75,but over time i am really glad i have a 76 as they had a few good things to point out ,thicker frames and swing arm walls, and other little upgrades, and i like the color green on green and pinstripes now a lot...get it...you will still have a 903 cc kawi...

not trying to break balls here(or show attitude),just trying to inform.

i have three 1976 kz 900's and love all the (kawi)big fours.
although i do hate saddle seats with built in sissybars as much as the next green blooded kawi fan  .

if it was an LTD model it would look a little bit better. Just a little bit.... But it really looks out of place on this bike. The sissybar w/ built in rack that came with my 750 LTD looks tougher than this thing...haha.
