Free enduro xt550....gonna have questions.

Those Honda RFVC single motors didnt do much for Honda's reputation of having great reliability. Eight rocker arms and about 20 bolts to hold down the valve cover was a bit much for a single.

I had an XT550, loved it strong bulletproof motor. It would wheelie just by thinking about it. Lots of fun, the only issue I had was it kept blowning up CDI boxes. After going through 2 Yamaha ones I got a replacment one from a guy in New Zealand. That one never went out. I eventually gave the bike to my dad for a trip through Central America and back. I rode an old Suzuki SP600 my father had the old XT550 and my brother rode a beat up old Kawasaki KZ750 twin.
We had no troubles from any of the bikes. Those were some great times what a blast. I would love to get hold of another XT550.

awesome ....i bet that was a great trip...and a great tip on the cdi...it looks like a good pressure wash...an oil change and a carb cleaning/new battery is gonna be where i start...new plug and see what happens....but the cdi tip is the kinda stuff i'm looking for cause i know each type of bike has it's weak points and i assume it got parked cause it was acting up...but it may just have been parked and forgot about.....i will update when i mess with it...thanks


i have always wanted an enduro but spent my coin when i had it on a kz,,,i am really juiced to have one and i like the old yamahas looks and 550 engines reputation......cant wait :woohoo:
