Running poor which way?

Reason I ask...
Here in Az Oct/Nov through winter months, corn entho here at gas pumps but it's cooler weather so the old girl runs fine...

AZ summer heat, she still performs but not like when in cooler weather with same gas even....

Anyhoot... what is happening?

Or was it just bad gas (low quality) from that station vs the entho concept....

seems to lack the punch she once had (78 kz1000a) also takes a long time...5 mins.. to warm up and hold idle at 1000 rpm. ive added inline fuel filters just to be safe. i always ran the cheap gas b4 with no problems for years, now i run premium. is this normal for my baby ????

iirc there was a thread here awhile ago about ethanol degrading regular fuel lines. I would assume it could do the same to rubber carb parts, etc. I just run reg and she rips!

I've noticed that today's politically correct gasoline is prone to plugging jets in as little as two months. I just recently learned that the powers what be know all about it, I mean take KZR as an example, change the BAC from Zero to 10% and so many corpuscles get blocked that you can't see anything but spitting shims!!!!! That's just an aside the simple truth is that alcoholic gasoline may run fine for a while, particularly if you're gonna run it daily but winter storage will require nonalcoholic fuel.

Back to subject matter....
"i always ran the cheap gas b4 with no problems for years, now i run premium. "

This may be the cause... Otto just posted an interesting posting on Octane differences regarding power performances.... Next tank fill, go back to what you where previously running regarding Octane.... ;)

Please post the results....

Here in Chicago we have no choice. Our gas is 10% Ethanol from May to September and 15% Ethanol the rest of the year. You just have to jet accordingly and use additives to prevent corrosion inside the carburetors because Ethanol is very corrosive. These bikes when they came out void the warranty if you used "gasohol" which is what they called gas that had 10% alcohol in it back than. Also these bikes have a tendency to build up crud on top of the pistons and inside the combustion chamber. This is why premium gas will perform better in older bikes due to their increased compression. The muck inside the chambers can be cleaned out by using "Combustion chamber cleaner" This will put your compression back to original and the bike will run better on regular gas. You will find that if you run Lucas Fuel additive that this will stabilize the ethanol rich gas and will also make the engine run better in relatively short period of time. Yamaha also sells a similar product (much more expensive) which they recommend regular use of.

I never run a single tank of gas in ANY of my vehicles with out running Lucas. You can buy it in 5oz., 32oz., and one gal. bottles at any good auto parts store. I add 1.25oz for every tank of gas on the bike. (2.5oz/10gal gas)
