The mysterous Z1 4 pics

in the late 80's -early 90's there was a spy photo of a brand new "saab" prototype superbike...taken at a gas pump in europe the person who sumbmitted the "spy photo" said they saw this completely blacked out bike at a service station and secretly snapped the pic.....
this started a small rumor mill...in the end it turned out that it was a privatley owned egli superbike kz1000...the owner simply worked for saab and the only indentifying emblem was his saab key chain fob.....
rumors squashed.....

i remeber reading a article about the secret Z-1's that they were driving on "see if you can break it" runs....

they were eating drivechains and other than that were logging terrific amounts of miles in all kinds of conditions...even service roads that were all dirt for many miles.....with 0 problems,,,other than the chains....

Code named New York Steak. They tested the early models on US roads before production and used the Honda tank to not draw attention to the stealth testing
