Huh.... How can it be that with a 16/17" rim versus 18" rim your center axle point is not dropping.... Ok, what am I missing here.... :S

Christian... pant inseam?
Reason I ask, I have a 32" inseam... Corbin seat and using 17" rims/tire sizes... I can plant both feet firmly (flat) and comfortably on the ground while sitting on the seat....

Anyhoot, smaller rim/tire sizing, shorter shocks, seat fabbed mounting etc... and you should be able to get a somewhat safe configuration....

Edited Miss-type: Thanks Patton....

I think that an OEM 16 tire has a taller sidewall which equates to roughly the same circumference as an 18 tire. Does that make any since?

Miss-type... DOH!!!! :pinch:

clarifications.... Zx6 tires are 17"....
Point is you'll drop an inch or more in height in a rim/tire change. For us short legged sonsabitches, that's fairly significant....

Brings up a good point Patton regarding tires... From a rear perspective, some of the sport tires have a high dome on them... Another reason I chose the Michelin Road Pilot 2 series... Tire center mass not as domed....

Did you ever see that movie Gattaca? The character had to gain a few inches in that movie so that he could impersonate his counterpart so he went to the doctor to get his legs stretched. They cut the bones a little at a time so he could gain a few inches. Was very painful but he got through.
Did you see the spoof of the movie shaft? The brother walking down the the street with those high platform and heeled shoes? They had a goldfish floating around in them?

You could buy shorter shocks or the have a thing that I bought long ago called lowering blocks. They offset the shock so that it goes back a few inches. Maybe drop the tubes in front a half inch. This lowers the ground clearance and affects the ride. I wouldn't do all of that but I would sell it and buy one that is lower to your liking.

I feel your pain, I'm 5'6" and ride a KZ1000 CSR not modified in any way. I can't put both feet down at the same time, so I only put down my left foot. This works great as long as you don't turn your head too far to either side. I find that if I turn my head too far too fast (like looking over my shoulder), I tend to lose balance easier.
You can ride that bike without modifying it, it just requires some practice and technique.
Best of luck,
Grant.

16" tires tend tohave taller profile compared to 18"
