It is a nice looking bike. I wanted to demo the stock XR1200 at Americade, but the wait for it was too long. I rode the CVO Fat Bob instead. The Screaming Eagle 110 cu in. V-twin has some power.

I have a Fat Bob. No 110, but before I'm done I'll have an S&S 116 in there. It's ok fun right now with pipes and a forcewinder, but with the power from a 116 it should be a blast to ride.

I briefly got to know a guy who was a former Harley test rider recently. When I found out about his prior job, I had to ask him about the XR1200 since this is the only recent Harley to gain my intrest. I simply asked him his overall opinion on the bike, and his response was that he didn't like it. I continued to ask why not. His response was that he had two motors let go in two days while doing highway testing. Now I'm sure that Harley got this worked out before they went to market with the bike, but it makes you think.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know someone who owns one of these? What are their opinions? I have yet to even see on on the road.

I sat on one in a showroom last Saturday, and did not like the rider position very well. It was as if you were perched above the bike. The handle bars were a little high. There were no shaped places for your knees. When you leaned forward it was like being on top of the roof on a house. There seemed to be an absence of anything below you. I just could not feel like I was one with the motorcycle.

Now from what I read, they run and handle fairly well, but the riding position seemed foreign.

apparently h-d is giving them away. the dealer near me has them reduced from $11,900.00 to $7990.00. i think the last $1000.00 discount is military only so it's really $8990.00

hey man...lay off....we are discussing the new harley "superbike" it aint no superbike....

and if you wanna do a personal attack...

like the way it looks"...you like the way you "think you'll look" by riding it..... just another checkbook superbike!!!!it aint even anything new...it's just some good looking- second or third rate japanese parts on a H.D twin with 2010 headwork....at least the japanese make their own parts..and when they copy somthing they make it faster and cheaper....and "they" push the industry forward ....

it aint no SUPERBIKE...so what does that make it...a poser!!!!!!!

it's a sheep in wolfs clothing.....

If H.D would grow a set and build a real street bike ie a bike for the masses ...can you pronunce gsxr....$$$$$$$ right outta h.d tills

then maybe folks would not have to go to "special races" with "special rules" to watch austrian motors in harley name tags- with 300 cc advantages take the win from a 600 by 3 feet...while all the others get 10th through 15th place.....what a crock of crap harley feeds america...complete with a clothing line and no superbikes..

superbike...far from it ....

EXAMPLE:
below was when the british built a superbike...with their motor..their frame...their tires...everything...
it was a superbike...and they did not use a norton parallel twin ....the motor was later used in many street bikes....it was a superbike.....
