his only forseeable wreck is a direct hit from a car not seeing him...i think he meant to say...from being a clueless idiot in traffic....anyhow....there are many folks out there like homeboy...and they are teaching others with a furry....

I'm not so sure he's off the mark. If States implemented everything he suggested I bet deaths and injuries would go down even with helmets optional.

Apparently he's never considered the random sh*t that flies out of vehicles, or large rocks that get kicked out of tire tread. I'd be toast twice if not for riding in a quality full face, once when a rock kicked out of a semi tire on the interstate and put a crater in my SNELL/DOT right in the middle of what would have been my forehead, and once when an empty 5 gallon bucket blew out of a truck in front of me and clocked me upside the melon (all that did was knock my face shield off and break one of the mounting plates for the flip up).

I'm all for wearing helmets to be a choice, it increases the likelihood of natural selection taking its course (although we as a society now go out of our way to keep idiots alive...Darwin is turning in his grave...), but dopes like this that are actively spreading idiocy really irritate me...

Yut, yut! Those damn helmets really do interfere with your hearing. But straight pipes and constantly "wanking" your throttle at traffic stops - well that's just different.

then there is the difference between a almost fits helmet, and a shitty visor-scratched-glare-too dark after a certain hr. ect..ect...or just a bad helemt design...my rf-900 miguel du'hamel is soooooo perfect....i really will be sad when it becomes time to move on to a current rated helemt..rf900 is now the shoei x-11 or x-12...check em out!!!outta the six or so helemets we own...it is a first to reach for type thingy...the fit and padding and strap sytem, combined with a polarized tinted sheild and it's ride quiet design, venting top and bottom....ect...ect

but c'mon...your face is in the danger zone....so are your hands......would you run a chop saw with no glasses...or weld with no gloves..well...considering some of the responses..probably would ,would'nt you,and shoot firearms with gas station shades too......darwin.....was.right...

what happens when you take a bumble bee at 75 mph and swerve into innocent folks in the other lane... and then tell me about your right to be free...what about the little kids out there buckled up with a windsheild and parents driving the speed limit...what about about their rights....i followed a group of open faced H.D riders into my thrid shift last fri night....they were riding tire on the yellow ,elbows in the oncoming lane two abreast with neon light kits and radios going....how much of their rights do they need protected to stop scaring folks and to be socaible to everyone else too...

I really hate when people have to try so hard to fake an attitude.

I'll always believe that a helmet should be a personal choice, but that's because I don't believe in a whole slew of the Communist laws we have in our supposed Capitalist FREE societies. As for me, well growing up on a dirt bike will teach you young, and I'll always wear a lid. At lower speeds it can save you a lot of ouch. :woohoo:

Will it save your life? In city traffic I'm going to say yes.. eg: falling off your bike to pick up a cd on the side of the road.. roflmao   I have to agree with buddy about any hit over 50 mph though, completely useless. I can't see why with all the new age materials we have that helmets can't be made lighter and closer to the skull, out of kevlar or a kevlar resin mix etc...

If cage drivers were forced to concentrate on driving and their surroundings as much as they concentrate on the toys in their vehicles we might all live longer and that goes for other cagers on the roads with them. Though with more and more gadgets going into cars I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future. (I'm praying for the day when cars on public roads are auto-driven)

My personal belief after many years on the roads is that a bikers safety is completely in his/her own hands. Assumption will just get you dead, so never assume you have the right of way, never assume grandma isn't going to back out of her lane way across 2 lanes of traffic, and sure as heck never assume you can throttle up and the jerk won't left turn in front of you.. I'm on the brakes more than I am the throttle some days I think.. heh.

When riding with a pack of others, many times friends have send shivers down my spine as they push their luck to keep up with each other... if you're in a hurry I'll meet you there later on, well if you make it that is.

and speaking of loud pipes edmonton city council is trying to pass a loud pipe bylaw that states anything over 92 db at idle or 96 db at 3000 rpm will be hit with a 250.00 fine and second offense up to 25,000 not a misprint 25,000. so what do you boy's think of that. apperently it's just aimed at bikes. so much for the loud pipes saves lives arguement.and your right about the big brother knows best attitude that is taking over canada and the u.s. there are things that i got fines for 20 years ago that would land me in jail now. it's freakin ridiculas our governments need to leave us the hell alone. these guy's that don't want to helmets should be allowed as long as they have good medical coverage then who cares what they do. for the most part i absolutly insist on wearing a helmet but there are times when it's super hot and i'm putting on some interstate or back road in south dakota in august then i will ride with out it but that is my choice and it should always be my choice. the same thing is now happening with seat belts.
