last i heard they were trying to re-start a race only project..spondon and a few guys with heart and cash, and one of the employees and brains behind the effort had a stash of wankels and some good forward momentum..he was also tasked with maintaining the museum (now) wankels from the years...so he had knowledge and access to direct permission...not some yuppie buy out effort....and made a total ripper to go motogp...it looked super promising and was gonna get wings.....then...nothing more....

Tri, thanks for the wayback machine ride - was at both those Molson Superbike races. Nice to see McMurter,Hindle, Robbins,Morin and even DuHamel himself on superbikes -Rueben had one of 2 S1 ELR's in Canada at the time. IIRC, Yvon destroyed Hindle's rentaracer Z1 at Shannonvile in '83 - never seen a bike go that high in the air before.Back to your regular programming...

My favorite old clip is of I think of Freddie Spencer and as he crosses the finish line for the win the Flagman does a cart wheel. It's awesome. I love watching the old 500 GP stuff. Elbows banging and lighting up the rear tire through the turns. Ben Spies told Eddie Lawson that he'd like to ride one and Eddie said no you wouldn't you're too used to technology and I don't think you'd like it at all....lol

if any of these have been posted before then excuse the error....they seem like new clips to me....portions of todays post by me ,i've seen before ,but these seem more in depth coverage
for example,i dont remember seeing the MKII and Eddie live or the great close up of Dave Aldana and his MKII sweeping through the corkscrew @ 5:00 min mark
trivia question?
on another clip on you tube (1979 laguna seca ,i think...it is posted somewhere in our thread prev) shows freddie on a MKII winning and celbrating with a wheelie...he wins on a MKII and the anouncer says he is 17
in this clip that also says 79 (later in the yr?) he is said to be 18 and now appears to be racing for HRC honda factory team...so,did he get his factory ride for honda in 79 and who was he racing a kawasaki MKII for in the earlier clip?
(youtube)
clip re-posted for clarity Freddie & MKII wins

Man Tri, you really know how to wipe out a guys freetime. I'd somehow missed this whole thread and ended watching almost all this stuff just now. Thanks though.

I watched all six videos and then some more too of todays posts...made my eyes burn...then i got tired of being cooped up and went for a ride...n
note to self...
dont watch Eddie and Freddie and Co. and then go laying your own bike into corners after a rain on old metzlers...cause i aint no AMA super star...i had to slow it down...those videos will stick in your head on a ride.....

The first couple vids with Fast Freddy made me double take. I'm used to seeing him these days.
Thanks Craig!
