I havent had the baffle out of my yosh since I bought it. I probably should re-pack it though, she's not in the least rough shape. i may see how it sounds as is first though. If you start making pipes OMR you might become very popular around here. :D

I wish... Drool....B) !

The curved risers will be similar in concept... Right now, just doing the bends in 1.5" PVC piping... I'll use these individual bends as a template in mild steel.

The 4-1 collectors are way expensive even for carbon/mild steel... Been researching and designing to the best way to fab my own....

To make things easier, go 2-1 on each side of the swingarm but that would be the easy way out...

Again, not in any rush so really just playing with it for the time being. I'll keep you all posted when I get hot & heavy into it with images of course...

Damn titanium is $2.25 per inch for 1.5" o.d. .035" wall seamless tubing

I may give this a shot as well...... in a few months. I'm going to need a header anyway. Besides, I'm famous for spending 3X's the money to build something I could have bought

I wonder if making the 2:1 collector would be easier with a solid die and a press to stamp it out in two halves, then weld it together......?

You bastards with your fancy exhausts, whining about packing them! No concern for those of us without any exhaust

This would be okay for a start, with optional chrome, plus easy access to oil plug and filter, centerstand retention, and about $300 delivered.

Titanium or Stainless for that matter become extremely tricky....

example... Put too much heat to stainless and it becomes carbon steel... We use to run into this all the time in welding... Inspectors walk by with a magnet, it sticks, you're screwed... cut it out and start all over...

So the only way I can see truly bending that would be in a Mandrel system, no other true way to accomplish ideally. Ok, unless you want a whole slew of angled and welded pieces... Blah, not worth it at the point...

And to be able to pull it off... I mean seriously, look at the beauty of this rounded riser... Sweetness...

Actually back in the day, all of the Yoshimura pipes were hand-made. But I'm pretty sure that pipe you found (first picture) is not a yoshimura. I have never seen a Yoshimura pipe that doesn't have the logo on it. Here in Japan, that new curve pipe is very popular, but the most popular brand is not Yoshimura, its Moriwaki. Moriwaki pipes are also hand-made and in most people's opinion, better. That pipe is also available through PMC. If you guys are interested I can get just about any pipe for you, but I'm not sure how to safely go about doing payments.

Here is a link to the most common place to find bike parts in japan:

list1.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/パーツ-.../26312-category.html

you can search for yoshimura by entering: ヨシムラ
you can search for moriwaki by entering: モリワキ

You may not be able to read the texts i wrote above if your computer cant handle japanese.

Well can;t say but what was claimed...

Here's some 70's era ;literature of a rounded riser design... luv it....
