As someone who liked beer WAAAY too much and gave it up with years ago, couldn't agree more, gotta have a hobby, habitual inebriation is a dubious low-cost hobby on the outset, then curiously drains the wallet in 'after effects fees.'

With that in mind, I feel better about my 'free' '78 kz1000.....

I got my KZ now. But I think I will just hand it over to a Motorcycle dealer that specializes in custom bikes. So it should be back like how i saw it 30 years ago. will post pics ASAP

carefull of that remember they do charge by the hour. and they have lights taxes and payroll to make so this will cost you some big bucks and it will be on their time scheduale so it wont do any good to get impatient and for a project like this figure out how much you want to spend and then double it if a shop is doing it all i know what i'd charge to do a resurection and it would not be cheap and i'd want all of it up front for the parts so i wasn't going to be stuck with a bunch of stuff that i might have trouble getting rid of. just warning you quality does take time.

Come on! What else would you spend it on? Fluffy stuff like food, medicine, entertainment, mortgage, hookers, drinks, smokes, bribes, gambling, lotteries, girls, women, children, taxes, fines, clothes, gas, oil, coffee, bananas, glasses, depends, bottled water, pay per view, ponzi schemes, Halliburton, war, bridges to nowhere, guns, ammo, insurance, donuts, blow up dolls, divorce, going to a sports event etc..etc. So see it's a good investment. At least you can ride it! ;)

Nice!
Thanks for posting the picture.
Your bike is still sportin' many original LTD parts, including the hard-to-find LTD grab rail behind the seat.
IMO, she looks great as is, but if you want to repaint it, there are some members here (Mark Wing, for example) that really know their stuff.
Restoration to original LTD will be tough unless the PO gave you a box with the old original pipes, handle bars, front blinkers. Anyway, the original set up with the buckhorn handlebars wouldn't be the best setup with that turbo...maybe too hard to lean into when you twist the throttle.
I've photo'd pretty much all of my LTD. If you want some refence material, send me a PM.
