New KZ650 Gas Tank

let me put it plain and simple for you in the nicest way I can:

I don't care what you think I should sell it for and I don't care what I end up selling it for as long as both the buyer and myself are happy with the outcome. Obviously you're not interested in it, which means I'm not interested in selling it to you. There are thousands of KZ owners that don't use this forum or any other forum, so I'm not worried at all about not selling it. There are so few brand new KZ tanks available, that somebody would probably buy it even I asked a ridiculous amount for it. Whether it's considered a collectors item or not, there will always be that rich mother fker that will spare no expense to make his/her pride and joy look like new again. Ebay is such a low-ballers market, people trying to find thee absolute cheapest price they have to pay, 80% of the time items with reserves on them don't sell because ebayers are influenced by the prices of previously sold items. All it takes is 1 seller to get screwed over or sell an item for cheap, and then everybody else wants the same deal. I'm not going to get into it about the 1/3 price because that's actually a really bad rule of thumb to go by. Anyway, what I'm eventually going to get at is that old or not, it's still a brand new tank that has never been used.

Wow, what happened? That is a beautiful tank for sure! It's not my color choice and would not even consider repainting it as it is OEM. If it was my color choice I would buy it in a heartbeat! The few OEM 650 tanks I've seen on ebay usually have a ding or something from storage for 30 years. I came across an OEM tank (dealer take off) for my '80 KZ650 F1 a couple years ago (in the box!) and it had three small dents in it (paintless dent repair could fix them) so I started bidding and stopped at $270. Wish I had it now. As we speak I'm having the extra tank and tail fin from my spare 650 painted by a friend. Your tank is 100% perfect! Someone will grab it for sure!

I don't know about everyone else, but being a consumer and riding & maintaining a 28 year old motorcycle make me a cheap ass (I love my KZ nonetheless)

I need a tank. Too bad your beautiful one is not for my bike...

Actually that's a '78 C2 Metallic Star Dust Silver tank, slightly blue in colour and different stripes than the '77 C1.
I'd love to have it, but my C2 is too far from stock to justify buying it.

Funny things gas tanks!! Bought this off Ebay about 2 years ago brand new for 25 dollars.
I think it is from a KZ550 but not sure. I altered the brackets underneath and it will now fit a KZ650 or KZ750.
It is absolutely brand new with no marks at all.
Problem I have is that I don't really want a bike that colour but I am thinking about it, I am certainlt not going to paint the tank as it is original and looks really cool just sitting in my lounge.
How you place a value on these things I don't know- looks like I will keep it forever and maybe leave it to my grandson (you'll probably see it on ebay in about ten years time for ten dollars).
