The car guys have been doing this for anumber of years. It might not strip paint as fast as ground glass or other grit, but it does not cause thin metal panels to distort.

Another good thing about it using the soda blasting is the residue is water soluble(except for the paint/rust removed).

I use it on a lot of Aluminum parts....especially engines. Cleans up with water and no worries like glass bead.

I get 50lb bags of baking soda at Agway for about $10-15.

That's a really cool & simple tool!

another good thing about it is it wont hurt rubber or glass, ive seen guys do car bodies without even removing the glass.only bad thing i can see is you have to get it all out of any hidden corners if it gets wet it can play hell on metal parts. B)

I made mine tonite. I took a rubbermaid box and cut holes in it to stick my arms through and a hole to stick the air line through. It works pretty good. I started on my master cylinder took the paint off surprisingly efficiently. I will take some pics tom. I'm gonna hot glue sweatshirt sleeves into the arm holes to keep it all in the box. Like a really cheap blast cabinet.
