OK, "Z" is the Kawasaki alpha designation for "4-stroke street bike". No official explanation for why they picked "Z", but I remember some marketing babble back in the day that it was meant to evoke a sense that this was the ultimate, that nothing would ever, could ever, be better. :huh:

I was told they are called Z in Europe and not kz because they didn't want the name to be associated with kz camps.
