This was in the tool pouch that came with my 650. At first I thought it was something the po had thrown in there but then I saw a pic of one in a manual. What's it for?

The other side should have a slot that fits the end of the screwdriver bit and serves as a "T" handle. Insert bit from this side.

Truly! you won't know what it's for till you've broken down in BFE and don't want to hike 75 miles. Given those conditions, everything is clear.

Sorry, but that's how the tool kits are designed.

Also is an extension for the wrench that fits the rear wheel nuts!

I do believe you can fully dismantle the bike using only the toolkit tools!

Not sure about other "newer" bikes, but the kit on my W650 is all polished chrome tools - looks very professional. I'll have to take a picture of it!

Actually it is an extension for the "ring wrench" or "box wrench", to losten the rear axle. I don't think it takes that much force to twist the shock adjusters but it will take some leverage to loosen the axle.

Hi Limey,

I've often thought that collecting complete sets of tools in a stock case could be a hobby in itself.

Does anybody know how to check on which tools came with which bike?

Bill

The extender makes it easier to crumble or deform the heads of the tool kit wrenches that it fits onto.

Why is being realistic so much like being pessimistic? Why is the above quote so darkly humorous? :S
