why do we miss our first bike? it seems i was more than eager to get rid of the thing at the time to get something faster, cooler, and more impractical. but looking back, i miss my 76 750 twin. it leaked, was ugly, and noisy. tears i say! tears to my eyes.

1982 Kawasaki KZ 750LTD. i wanted the big boy 1000, but there's like a billion of these 750 ltds running around. so what the hey!

my first street bike was a 1973 rd 250 i crashed it a hundred times rode from calgary to san deigo when i was 17 generally thrashed and abused it for two years and then i siezed the bottomend that was back before i knew how to work on these units so it got sent to the wreaking yard , that bike and went thru hell and i more or less learned how to ride with that bike and i would love to get another in fact i'm eyeballing an rd 400 right now for cheap. with 1876 origanal km's on it. so maybe another mosqito killer in the fleet.

first bike was a dirt bike. A Kawasaki KD125. I really loved that bike and I wish I still had it to tool around on. I rode it for years and only had to replace 1 gear and the kick start return spring. Then I sold it to some neighbors and they trashed it within a week.

first road bike was a Kawasaki 500 triple. My dad bought it burned up and we rebuilt it. I rode that bike to high school and got my mc licence on it. Wish we still had it, but we sold it to a guy who wanted to drag race it.

that was in the late 80's.

went bikeless until 2004. Now I have a '80 kz 1000. this one is a keeper.;)

My first was a 1964 Yamaha 50 stepthrough. No I really don't miss it. I miss most my other motorcycles I sold though but luckily never sold any of my KZs, the KZ650 was my first streetbike when I was 17 yrs old. Got it new and still have it. I miss my old 70s Yamaha Enduros, those were fun. Had and sold all the GPZ line 550-750-1100 at one time and still actually have dreams at night sometimes that I still have them.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

First bike was about a 67 Honda 50, rode the snot out of it, broke it, learned to fix it and then broke it better.
Other notables were a 76 Harley (Benelli?) XS250, an 82 Yamaha 750 triple, a 73 HD Electraglide, miss it, and a 99 Excelsior Super X, miss it desperately.

I still have my KL250 although it hasn't run since '91. Maybe this year I'll actually get started on getting it going again.

That thing, being kick start only, could be a bear. I recall having a very sore right arch for most of the summer until I started wearing heavier boots. :D
