That should be part of the skill, going fast while not looping it....

ive done plenty of racing without a wheelie bar or slick, mostly because i had to ride 20 miles to the track on a few occasions.
im here to tell you racing a short wheel base high horsepower bike without a wheelie bar is right up there with riding a bull or parachuting without a parachute!
my bike was nowhere in the same class as what guys like Jack and Timebomb ride,if i throw another street/track bike together ill also get myself an enclosed trailer so i can haul it to the track with wheelie bars on the damn thing!
because scaring the shit out of myself isnt as fun as it used to be!
and like Jack said, bring a wheel barrel full of 100 dollar bills and ill build you a low 6 second 1/8 mile bike you can run without wheelie bars also! :woohoo: (my last one recently sold to a guy in abilene ks area)

Those "bars" weren't used until the mid 70's or so. Even Top Fuel bikes ran without them. Then, it was found how much faster and more consistent they could run with them and everyone started using them. They have their place. No way would I want to jump on Spiderman's bike...or even Jack's...without them. Nowadays, these bikes are too violent off the line to run without them. PST bikes are running 7.10's without bars but are using computers ro run the bikes. They are tuff to ride but easier then they used to be. Not sure I would want to straddle a 500+ HP bike and let the clutch fly without bars but some guys just have no fear. I have been in the 9.70's without bars but the damn bike has tried to bite back also...just depends on the bike and how good a rider you are I guess!
