So I am driving home from work today and parked way back in a dirt driveway is a 1974 GT750 Suzuki Water Cooled Triple. I think its a 74 by the color. (orange) It has a faded FOR SALE sign on it so its been in this place for awhile. Also the exhaust is oppisite from the other years and with 1 tube on kick start side and 2 on the shift side. It appears to be 100% untouched and original. The motor turns over but the throttle is stuck. Paint is faded and chrome has some surface rust but I think it will clean up. I had a t500 back in the day and loved the bike. This one is so Ugly its cool. Anyone have experience on these and do they have good value? If I am out of line discussing another brand I will remove thread...Russ

I never had one but have ridden them. They are a nice motorcycle. For a 2 stroke it will last a long time. Better oiling than the Kawasaki H2, smoother, not to mention liquid cooled. Electrical problems not common like on the GS models. I'd like to have one. Someone else here will have more experience with them I'm sure and chime in.

at the time it was suzuki's version of the touring bike it never was built to be as rude and obnoxious as the the h2 water buffalo's have quite a following world wide there are clubs that just cater to the tea kettles so yes it is desirable but other than that i don't know much about them.

i guess it cant hurt to try..they are cool as all get out...but funky aye...your gonna be an expert by the time you get it running i bet......it would have to be pretty cheap if it was not a startable bike, for me to wanna start skipping down the gt750 path, dont go snapping anythingon the kz if you do drag the suz home, like i just did ,cause then the whole"hey when am i gonna run again???" stable just stares blankly at you and haunts your every waking moment.........pics if ya do get it....right???

Pics will be posted tommorow either way. I think it will go cheap. Couple hundred dollars or so. No one was home so I dont know but it was parked right next to an old Sea Ray Fiberglass boat of the same vintage. And the original paint on the bike is good enough to keep. I kicked the kick start and it turned over fine....Russ

Ok I just left after talking to the owners wife. I love it when I can deal with wives. She says the Bike runs fine. It was started a few days ago after being in a shed for a few years. The liscence plate has a 1985 tag on it. I got her down to $400 dollars and I will pick it up tonite. Here are a few pictures. I just couldn't pass it up could you?...Russ

Get rid of the sissy bar and clean it up it will be a good looking bike. Good job. Every time I find these bikes sitting with for sale signs on them the owner is out in space on the price. There's a Honda 700 nighthawk-s near my house that's sat out in the weather for several yrs and is pretty "weathered" to say the least, with a for sale sign and the guy wants like $2500 for it. Going to be sitting a bit longer. :)

Nice find for $400.00 I'd have had to bring it home as well. The fact that it's a runner just makes it all the better. Looks like you are going to be replacing the fork seals but on a bike that old it's to be expected.

I worked at a Kaw Suzuki dealership from 78 till 84 so I've been around them some. They are nothing like an H2, much heavier and IIRC the engine is rubber mounted so they are much smoother than an H2. They also came with electric start which is kind of cool on a 2 stroke. They are pretty tough old bikes, the water cooling really added to their longevity. Some brillo pads and a good powerwashing and that looks like it will be a nice fun ride. I love the smell of belray in the morning. How many miles are showing on it?

After I asked that question I got smart and enlarged the pics.:S For a water buffalo that isn't very many miles. If after you go through it and you decide you don't like it, I'd say you can make a few bucks bringing it to Mid-Ohio and selling it. The guy from Denmark who bought my KZ900 last year has a buffalo he is re-doing, IIRC his is a 72 the first year for them.

I grew up on the Suzuki triples. Never had the Water Buffalo but had a couple of 380's and 550's though. The sound of the triples is something you cant forget. Once you get her cleaned up and catch up on the maintenance you will have one cool bike. I'm jealous now, $400 is a bargain if it runs. Way to go saving another classic bike.
