I've seen these things advertised which are supposed to trigger the pressure sensors(?) at intersections so the lights will change. Has anyone tried these? Do they work?

Late the other night I sat in the left turn lane for what seemed too long with very little cross taffic. Anything else one can do about it?

i used to install traffic lights and wiring years ago.1st off it has nothing to do with pressureor weight of vehicle there are loops cut in the concrete with wire looped around inthe square/loop 3-4 times if i remember right.anyway this puts off a magnetic field from the electricity passing through the wires, when something large and metal like a car drives over the loop the magnetic field is disturbed and sends a signal back to the control box which intern sends a signal to the lights to change, thats a very basic explanation of how it works.B)

There is a video on utube about it. A kid uses a magnet on a string hangging under a car. I only watched it (no sound) so I don't know what kind of magnet?

Plummen is right, it works on a magnetic field. I installed an old magnet from a speaker on the front of my center stand. When you fold up the center stand it than places the magnet at the lowest point on your bike with the exception of the bottom of your header. This now works exactly the same as the advertised product. Old speaker magnets are easy to find and usually FREE (this is always good) Just remember two things 1) mount it as low as possible and, 2) use as large and powerful magnet as possible. The system is sound and it works, just don't spend your money on something you can get for free. You can use as many magnets as you want, and if you space them it is even better.

like fonzy popping the jukebox.....i have some tricks too...but they may be state specific....and they may be me just doing somthing i THINK works.........in California most left turn waiting lanes have a piture of a bicyclist painted in yellow lane paint and a square ...you stomp your foot on it and it triggers the light........if it's not there i grab my front brake and stand up (like a burnout) and rock the kz back and forward hard...seems to trigger it too....my favorite is to look at traffic as i come to the intersection and choose to lower my knee and blow thru it like i'm at seca...that is the best way......i am not gonna sit in a freeway turn lane waiting for some dude on meth/booze/or his phone to clip me....:woohoo:

Yep, John, I have a left turn bay that I ride through on the way to work and I finally figured out after some experimentation that that's what triggers it....for some reason. I don't know why the left side works and the right side doesn't.....but that's the way it does.

I put my kickstand down and let the bike rest on it for a second or two. Usually works.

Some emergency vehicles such as fire trucks are equipped with some sort of device whereby the driver approaching a traffic signal can change it to green.

Wonder where can I get one? [The device -- not a fire truck.] :pinch:

But what happens when Plummen's heading West and I'm heading North, both approaching the same traffic signal, and both pressing our device buttons? :( I want the strongest most powerful device available, and hope Plummen keeps using his econo version.

But oops, what if Plummen's driving a fire truck!
