trikes and reverse trikes

Ok we've all seen trikes and are now seeing reverse trikes. so if I can put 2 wheels in the back legally and 2 wheels in the front legally, why cant I combined them?? Not that I want to. just a question.

i was pushing it kinda hard on highway one a few days back...i come flying around a corner...and coming the other way is one of the new can-am dual front wheel jobbers....kinda cool..we also have an older gent on a beemer one around here...

There is a couple of yellow Can Ams running around town here.

I think that with 3 wheels, a vehicle can be registered as a bike and insured as a bike. When it gets four, it can't and will be subject to various auto regulations... There are far fewer regulations on a bike... for example, seat belts or restraint systems, etc.

What about the training wheel kits some bikes have? Would that be considered an automobile?

The Voyager conversion (training wheels) can be removed in just a few minutes so I guess it doesn't count as four wheels... I know an older gentleman who rides a smaller Yamaha cruiser with his wife riding hers. He is in his 80s and his wife worries about him when he rides alone. She bought him a Voyager kit and he has promised her to use it when riding alone due to his age... I will put on training wheels when I get into my mid-80s if I can keep riding. That man is... well he is THE MAN and a great guy to boot.

I learned on a tricycle. It would be a cool to be 80 and still ride one way or another.

I am a fan of the T-rex, sure its not a bike, but its fast and it registers as a bike.

Actually a law in Cali goes into effect this year that an "enclosed 3-wheeled vehicle" still counts as a motorcycle and gets to use the commuter lane.

If I can get down to one bike which is the plan(over what time period I'm not sure) I will most likely end up with either the 650 or the 900 and a Can Am Spyder. They are a little funky feeling at first but after about 20 mi I grew to appreciate it. I did about 50 miles on my friends and I liked it better than a trike kit. chacun a son gout "each has his own taste"

So, am I to believe that you've put fifty miles on a Spyder?

Being of your particular persuasion, you would have calculated Two Wheels/Three Wheels, which would Joan Claybrook have chosen? And proclaimed: "Thank you Joan!" as you first settled onto the Spyder, three is more than two, we likes it. Then as you accelerated and wondered, 'is the steering as quick as a Ninja or does it just bump steer'?:laugh:

I've read that it cuts out at 105 MPH, my guess is because of stability issues. Riding down the road it can't find a groove. Left-Right Left-Right, it acts as if it were on two rails that are constantly converging.

I only spent six miles at the controls but, once I got accustomed to the torque I was able to play with it. I started at the bottom of a great hill that I've ridden for thirty years. It has a few turns, a switch back and a great right hand sweeper. In the first left hander I could see the left wheel getting light and soon realized that I could spin the rear wheel at will. It played out the same through the switchback!:laugh: Unfortunately, when I got to the sweeper, probably 50MPH something was missing. Once in a turn, It's SWEET, but every time I straightened out, the bike Hunted ( left/right/left/right )

More of a snowmobile than a motorcycle.

go to jay leno's garage web site and look at him driving his morgan three wheeler it is funny as hell actually it is quite a good web site overall. lots of neat stuff to look at. you will be there for a while that guy has every gearheads dream i have gained alot of respect for the man not your typical collector him and his guy's really know their stuff.
